Hiiii everyone!
Though I'm not around much these days, I think of you often. I miss being on the board and hope life will slow down soon and give me time to do so!

I came home this afternoon to discover some very scary throw up (I think?) on the floor. I'm not sure who it belongs to; I'm guessing it's our civie sister because there's fur of her's in it. Can anyone give some wisdom as to what this is? I'm kind of freaking out! nailbite_smile

It doesn't look reminiscent of anything that's been around lately that could have been eaten behind my back...?

Thank you all so much!!

what was the food he ate? It looks like partially/mostly digested food that was thrown up and it's red, because that is what the color of the food is maybe? that or he ate something red and threw that up. what is the hard piece that is in the pic?

It could be food coloring in the food. Some varieties really make the vomit look red. I think IMO if the cat were throwing up blood, it would be acting very noticeably ill. I would monitor and maybe take a sample to the vet if you are really worried.

It looks like rubber or something with holes punched in it. Does one of them like to chew shoes or a toy?

Thank you all so much!

I agree that it looks like there's some rubber in there, but I can't for the life of me think of what it could be from.
It's not like pieces of an internal organ or something, right? (my imagination gets the best of me sometimes !)

I feed my cats canned 9 lives, which as more of an orange tint to it. This is not what it looks like when regurgitated in the past. BUT, I did give our civie some treats yesterday that have a red tint. So that solves another piece of the puzzle!

It seems stringy too--not sure what's going on!

So, how worried should I be? Do we need to make a trip to the vet? Both cats are acting normal...

Thanks again!

hi ashley - yuck on the barf!

as far as the vet - i would go by the cat's behavior. if they act sick, a vet is important. if they are not acting sick, if it were me, i'd probably wait and see if something happened again. it looks like someone chewed up something.

nice to see you!

eta - is it terrible that i chuckled at the name of your file on picasa "scary throw up"? :YMHUG:

Juuuuulllliiiieeeeee!!! :YMHUG:

LOL I was cracking up at my Picasa album as well. I was in panic mode trying to get the pictures loaded as fast as possible. I do this sort of thing all the time and I just have to giggle at myself.

Thanks for your advice! I can breathe easier now for sure!

Hope you, Punkin and Anya are well! :-D

 i thought you wouldn't mind if i admitted that!

punkin and anya are the same as ever - punkin just dashed off at a sprint when the timed feeder made its little noise that says "food time!" he's doing great. anya keeps stealing stuff and dragging things out from our bedroom - at the moment there are 6 socks between the living room and the bedroom that she's "killed" and left for dead, i guess.

it's good to see you today. i've wondered how you and sushi were doing.
