i am so confused. got a bg reading of lo <<< which according to book u would be under 20!!! so i tested myself, i was 140. i let larry eat. he acts totally normal. maybe 10 mins. passed as i watched and panicked. now it says 406, which would be normal for him.
he hasnt had a shot of N in almost 12 hrs! what on earth? could this meter be faulty?? or the strips?

I'd say the reading was off, Pam. That can happen for lots of reasons - too little blood, too much, etc. to reassure yourself, you could test him once more.

If you get the 400s again, 2.5 would be good. But I know you need to sleep and can't monitor overnight, so maybe 2 units. I would try 2.5 on a 400 in the daytime when you can monitor.

Remember that meters always have a 20% variance. So your 400 and 341 would fall into that window. But for either, I'd go with 2 units?

so all this is normal? 3 odd readings, in comparison to each other?
the meter has been weird since we strtd this new container of strips. i hope theyre ok. they expired 2/14 i know ppl said that doesnt matter, but this seems off to me?
hes a little diff. than usual, not so wild and restless like usual.
idk what to do?

just to be sure the meter and strips r accurate tho....how do we know? how did it change 60 points in 15 mins? thats normal?

Any meter has that 20% variance. The manufacturer lists the possibility in their instructions. But the saving grace here is, both numbers will work with 2 units.

ok, good. he is diff. more cooperative and all so wntd to be sure. he let me test again! i found some diff. strips that arent expired. got 345. feel that is true bc theyre new, had no issues using them and just got a 340 last time. this is after eating tho, so 2U is still safe?
thanks! :)

ok i am going just a hair lower...a little worried. not sure if its 1.75 or closer to 2. that was awful.i was almost asleep, fighting it when alarm went off to test. thisshocked me, got adrenaline pumping! and i have to be up early. i sure hope hes ok!

Yes, that 'Lo' was just an error. It happens. Whenever I got a really weird number, I would test again.
It looks like Larry is around 350 - 400, so his normal dose seems safe.

Glad you shot. :-D I think he will be fine. Without insulin he might have zoomed really high by morning.

wow. who knew? sum1, evn the manufacturer shd warn u. how scaryyyyyyy

it was everything put together. hes nvr bn that good for a PS, evr!! i think he really is the 345 or so bc he feels grrrreat now! hes scaring the other cats, he is playing so wildly. how precious.
his walking is a little btr too. more down toward the paw, but a way to go.
his fur finally looks btr. i wondered whn/if it would. shinier, dandruff almost gone, for the first time in abt 8 yrs. evn with all the faults, and issues, he is not the same cat as 4 wks. ago.
imagine him on lantus? :-D
i just know he could go OTJ or close. this cat is amazing. hes a fighter. :-D
i hope we get it :)
