Hello. My 10 pound cat who is 9 years old recently went to the vet and had blood work. Every lab came back perfect except her glucose which was 418 over a recommended max 175. She gets very stressed and screams the entire time she's in the vet. My vet wants me to start on a high protein diet which I am starting her on Purina dm dry and tiki cat wet. She also suggested starting insulin and all I have read is horror stories. My cat, Godiva, is very difficult. She doesn't let me hold her or poke around at her. It's a battle. My question is, is starting a high protein diet alone enough to help lower the blood sugar? Any thoughts would be great. Thank you!
