? Help needed- 1/31 Lady Arya- AMPS- 320 +5 88 PMPS 331 +4 117

Some cats climb high just before they dive down and break the bounce. You might see a later nadir this cycle. Another test in an hour or two would be useful if you have the time. I'd also give her a tsp or two of her regular LC food to see if you can get her to coast (we call it surfing) at these lovely numbers.

Thanks Wendy. I very much appreciate these replies.. I want to know as much as I can learn.
With regards to food, apart from the couple of hrs prior to PMPS I just free feed … should I be feeding her more structured?

It's OK to let Arya graze if that's what she's used to. For cats that are not grazers, it's worth looking at her spreadsheet data, and trying to see if you can find times that her numbers drop fast on the first part of the cycle. Onset (when insulin takes effect) is a common one. Fast drops can cause bounces, so you want to try to avoid that. Some tips in this post: Using Food to Manipulate the Curve

A couple of other tips. When a cat first hits "green" or under 100, it can be a good idea to give them a tsp or two of food, to try to encourage them to surf or hang out in those healing numbers. The other tip is to try to limit the amount of food you give after nadir. After nadir, the insulin is starting to wear off, and any carbs given after that point will cause the insulin to wear off faster. This can cause a loss of duration (insulin not lasting as long), resulting in higher preshots, and then steeper drops the next cycle. Which can cause bounces....

Thanks for the advice Wendy… 🙏🏼 This is invaluable information. We obviously want to do the very best for Arya- I’m trying to soak it all in (now that I’ve pulled myself together! 😂)
