I am losing my mind! My furr baby is running VERY low on his lantus. I got a prescription from my vet and I could swear that I told her he's on the solostar pens when they asked me, but they gave me a prescription for the 10ml vial. I prefer the 3ml pens because then it won't go bad since he only gets 2 units twice a day. I have been going and calling around to different CVS and Walgreens in my area, but no one sells the single pens, only the 5 pack which is way too much and too expensive! Anyone in the south Florida Broward county are that has any luck on getting the single lantus 3ml pens?

It may not help this time (depends on how long you have) but a lot of us are buying Lantus from Marks Marine in Canada

It takes about a week for delivery though once they have the script...sometimes as quick as 3-4 days

The benefit (besides the price) is that once you submit a script, you will never have to get another one. I've been refilling for 3 years on the same script.

They will also swap the vial for the pens if you ask them. It doesn't matter what your script says. If you ask for the pens instead, that's what they'll send you

I was told it's illegal to buy from Canadian pharmacies. Is this true?

Do you have a free clinic or similar in town and if so which pharmacy supplies? My situation and we have a very good working relationship with our pharmacy and they have "donations" people have given to the pharmacy. New , unused stuff. Our Pharmasist cannot give all the insulin given to her to the free clinic. Titan has been the grand recipient of new Lantus vial and pens for pharmacy cost. She needs to find a home for all her perishable items. So I would see if that route is available to you.

If you have a good relationship with your general physician (human Dr.) - you might give them a call and ask for a sample pen (dr offices get them from pharmaceutical reps). We got one from our doctor (free) last time hubby had to go in for blood work - he simply explained the situation and my Dr. gave him one pen of Lantus and two pens of Basaglar (“follow-on” glargine product). Not sure if I will switch to Basaglar or not yet.

I ♥ my doctor :)

Sort of....the FDA does say we're not allowed to do it, but hundreds of us have been buying from Marks for several years now and have never had any problems with it.

Now customs CAN seize it, but in all the years I've been dealing with Marks, I've only heard of it happening once. Nothing happened to anybody over it though.

The ship insulin (and other drugs) to thousands of people in the US every month. They're a well oiled machine.

They also provide you with a tracking number so you can watch it move through the postal system.

That they are. And they are a brick and mortar store. I have emailed and phoned Rita there several times

Yeah I know! They're great! I was the first to "find" Marks back in July 2014. China had been on Lantus but when I bought her first vial, it was $180.....by the time I needed more the price was up to $300 and I could only find one place that had one pen they'd sell me ($90) but they made it clear they wouldn't break open any more boxes so the search was on. Nobody within 150 miles of me would sell single pens, so I started looking online. All I found for a couple of months was those "website" pharmacies with the awful reviews. I was within a few weeks of having to take China off Lantus when I did one more search and Marks popped up in the results. I had a friend living in Vancouver and she said they were a real pharmacy, and then I called and spent about 2 hours on the phone with the pharmacy manager, Jason before taking the chance and ordering from them. I've been thrilled with them ever since and singing their praises!

My last reorder was made on a Monday afternoon and my insulin was in my mailbox on Friday!

Well I didn't know that! Thank you :):bighug:.

The last box I got from Marks got too warm and had lost potency. Difficult shipping from Canada, through customs and down to Texas. We even tried to time it when there was a weather (heat) break here. Alas, it is not uncommon to be 90*+ in February :banghead:. It took 9 days and it was just too long. Not sure what I am going to do, but will need to make a decision in the next month or so.

That's strange.....that first order of mine was the last week of June, so we had to deal with Canada Day (July 1) and 4th of July, so between 2 postal holidays and a weekend, my first order took 10 days....and Missouri in July was 90+ degrees too

Of course the ice pack was totally melted, but I was still able to use all 5 pens and none of them had any problems

I found a local pharmacy to break up the pen pack, I had to call around to a several before I found one at did, but I'd say you'd have much better luck with a mom & pop type pharmacy over the big corporate type ones. See what's in your area and just call and ask by phone if they sell single pens. Good luck!
