I forgot to put my dirty dish away last night and woke up to my cat licking the plate. He’s diabetic and only takes one unit of insulin. Do I still give him insulin , do I still feed him his meal? I don’t know what to do!! Someone please help me.

Are you home testing? See what the pre-shot is and if safe, yes - shot and feed as normal.

Likely he will be high (BG) due to getting into the contraband but nothing you can do but just wait it out until it is processed through him.

And try to get another test a couple hours after they ate it. Sometimes a big sugar-induced spike can lead to an abnormal dip if his body tries to compensate. I agree with Lizzie, proceed as normal, just be prepared to get a little high carb something into him if he dips.

He doesn’t get tested at home he has to be Sedated to be tested since he puts up a fight to get tested . He has had Pancreatitis in the past and was in the vet few days getting that looked after as well.

I feed him half his amount of food at the moment to see if anything happens in the next couple of minutes.

Please don't give your kitty insulin until you can test him at home. It's dangerous. Better to go a few days without any than to overdose. We have lots of tips and info on here about how to get started with testing - trust me, it can be done - even with the most difficult of cats.
