Hi folks!
So this morning my hubby and I discovered our diabetic cat, Alice, had torn into his work back pack and found a bag of pepperoni sticks and ate a pretty large quantity of it. :( My hubby figures she had to have eaten about 8 sticks of pepperoni!! I’m pretty concerned..and her being diabetic concerns me further. She would have eaten it sometime in the middle of the night between 11PM last night and 5AM this morning. It’s now almost 9:30AM but she’s not shown any signs of discomfort yet…
I skipped her breakfast this morning and I’m considering skipping her lunch but I’m unsure. She got her usual dose of insulin this morning at 8:30AM.
She hasn’t bothered me for food at all yet today which is very unusual for her but she must obviously be quite full? She’s been mostly sleeping and seems quite content at this time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

**Edit:
She weighs about 74kg

that is certainly not ideal, But at least, in terms of your sugar kitty -- it is a zero carb or near zero carb food. I would think it could cause some stomach upset or constipation though.

Did you call your vet and get their opinion?

Please keep a close eye on Alice. Both caustic spices in pepperoni (e.g., the pepper) and garlic are not healthy for cats. The preservatives (e.g., sodium nitrate) aren't particularly healthy, either. If you Google 'cats and pepperoni' there are a number of sites that spell out the problems. They are not websites I typically go to but they all urge caution.

@Hendrick Cuddleclaw - it can cause more than just an upset tummy.

sorry, yes I did not mean that it could not be more serious even -- just that at a bare minimum I'd expect those symptoms. I'd definitely call my vet if that happened to Hendrick!
