So I've been tracking her even though it's been pretty busy with the holidays and she's still maintaining in the high 200s. I know you guys said I can start to push and work her towards going to OTJ but she's been showing some worrying symptoms in the past couple weeks. She's dropped weight again. She went from 10.2 to 8.6 which is massive in a matter of weeks and I have no idea why and she's getting a little patch on her tail that has less hair. Per her vet tests she has no other compounding conditions that could be contributing. The weight loss is really worrying me. She's been doing great and responding on less and less insulin. What could be causing it? I've increased her food but she's still eating like a madwoman. For 2 months she was slowly gaining weight so I don't know why the change. Eating/drinking and bathroom habits are consistent and good aside from always acting hungry and she shows no signs of lethargy or other behavior changes.

Here's her stats for quick reference:

Age - 11
Insulin - .4 u twice a day
Food - canned, wet, twice a day
Weight - 8.6
Average AMPS/PMPS - high 200s

2 months ago she was tested for everything. It all came back clean and showed the only issue she has is diabetes.

But it's been in the last few weeks she's losing weight - I think you need to take her back to the vet - something has come up between the tests from 2 months ago and now, don't you think?

Have you tested her for ketones in her urine? I wouldn't have thought about it, but Bubba of Bobbie and Bubba was losing weight, and he had moderate ketones in his urine

That's actually not a bad idea. I'll have to check that first and see what happens. If she's showing, what would that mean?

If you read that thyroid site, there are two tests for hypothyroidism - much is much more accurate than the other.

And you might post on Health. It's quiet because of the holidays - you'll get more eyes there.

read the testing for ketones sticky at the top of the prozinc site -any reading over a trace is a cause for anxiety - read Bobbie & Bubba's posts on the health forum under "moderate ketones" if it is positive - please post on health forum right away

Just a quick heads up - finally managed to get a urine test in after watching her like a hawk for the past hour and it's negative.
