I did anither test just a few mins ago. It would have been 40 mins after +2. She is still at 89. I gave her the gummies of honey and some high carb stuff.
89 is still a perfectly safe number
We don't usually pull out the high carb food or Karo/honey/syrup until they drop below 50 on a human meter.
I cross posted both places. We're only 2 1/2 weeks into diagnosis and this is our first concernable drop so I was impatient for adviceI know it's scary seeing the lower numbers for the first time but you've got this! Maybe post a 911 on the prozinc forum if she continues to drop or any major changes in behavior but don't panic![]()
Lol What's too much? Now I'm freaking I did too much.Yeah it's good that you're on the ball!!
That quick drop is your "early warning" that Scout may be dropping lower later in the cycle, but what we want to do is give them just enough carbs to get them stable (not continuing to drop too much more) but not give them too much and send them to the moon.

. I wondered what ECID stood for. I'm looking at all of this as a huge numbers game. (I know you've helped me on FB.... My last name is Baumgartner.... . Thank you!!)Now we're getting into the ECID department!...LOL (Every Cat Is Different)….but don't freak...no matter what, you're getting important data so that the next time (and there's always a "next time") you'll do better!!
When you say rebounded on the 19th.... Do you mean the red 400+? Part of me wondered if I did a fur shot. It was weird because when I pulled the needle out of her scruff I felt like I didn't plunge. It was weird but I didn't dare re-do100% drop in 2 hours definitely requires timely action, you did good.
She's going to rebound just from that drop alone, so give her whatever she needs to stay as stable as possible tonight, the rebound is a problem for another day. Unfortunately they can last 72 hours but she cleared that one on 19th very well so I wouldn't worry too much about that right now.
All that matters right now is keeping her safe and steady.
Better to be too high than too low as my vet just reminded me today lol and I read here somewhere something like a day too high is better than a minute too low.
You're doing great, just keep testing and monitoring her behavior, you've got all the tools you need and so much support here.

It's officially +4 and she tested 96. I really don't think she ate a lot of med/high carb food.... Just a couple nibbles. Is the panic over?Nah, she had just dropped 100% in 2 hours.
You didn't inject glucose into her, you just fed her. And the honey doesn't stick around very long at all.
You did good. Now you know for next time you can probably wait a bit before you need honey and high carbs, but she did need something to slow that drop and low carb food probably wouldn't have done enough fast enough at the rate she was dropping.
If she continued at the same pace she would have been at what at +3? 40?
No need to risk that. She already endured a huge drop very very quickly, that is very taxing on their tiny bodies.
Read up on insulin rebounds, (tomorrow when you have a chance lol) they can last up to 72 hours and they don't have to go hypo to have one, any big decrease can cause them, especially when its that fast.
You did good tonight, you tested early enough to catch it and had what you needed on hand to handle it, and now you have information for next time she's so low at PS.
Don’t ever give insulin again if you think you might have given a fur shot. You have no way of telling if some insulin got in or not. And if you give it again you risk giving too much insulin and having to deal with a hypo.Yeah , best not to re-do just in case.

Thank you everyone for staying up with me and guiding us through our first hypo. Looking at her she seems to just be annoyed cause i won't leave her alone. Lol
Yup. I've been reading a lot and learned never, ever too much. When in doubt less is betterDon’t ever give insulin again if you think you might have given a fur shot. She's actually a snuggle bug. She just gives me stink eye when I poke her so muchMy guy gets irritable and does not want to be touched even if he's only around 130-170 so I don't blame her!
I get very confused and irritable when my blood sugar is low, so again , I don't blame her! lol![]()

. I just made it worse!!!! There's a button to add columns but not remove. LolJust fyi when you get a chance before it gets filled in too much, seems like you have an extra column in your ss after nightly +4.
If you want you can add data from the extra shots in the hour cell it took place in, just add the time, and then manually fill in the cell with the appropriate color.
lmao!. I just made it worse!!!! There's a button to add columns but not remove. Lol
I'm in my phone..... Don't have a right click. Only this comes up.....lmao!
Right click on the cell where the +number would be... should be an option there to delete column..if you accidentally delete something you want to keep, don't do anything else until you hit "undo"...
Well I'll be...... I figured it out. Lol. But not before adding 4 more extra columns.lmao!

Anyone still up? So it's officially+5 and she tested at 86. Hasn't eaten for about 1.5 hours. Has she stabilized? Should I test again in a bit?
Should I test again in a bit?
Yes I was just going to edit my post after I read chris's...Should I take the food away?
And is it a good sign that she hasn't dropped at all in the last few hours? Or could that be food influenced?

I always make sure to test her before I go to bed. Sucks for me because i have to get up in 4.5 hours. .Because there was honey and high carb food... really... personally... I'm surprised it didn't rise at some point already, the honey early and the food a bit later...being that early in the cycle too.
I think it's really good you caught it when you did.
Not a good sign or a bad sign, it was just a lot of insulin at that PS# considering how she'd been trending...
And regarding her BG not riding.... I was expecting it to at some point. I'm not convinced she ate much of the high carb. Pretty sure her greedy little sister got wind of it and devoured it. Lol
