Hello,
My cat has been on insulin for 5 months now. He’s been bouncing in results. low to high. Was getting more stable over last couple of months.

However over the last two days the insulin ISNT DROPPING HIS BG.

It hasn’t progressively got higher either which I find odd. Just stayed at 25 (aus number)

Can a cat become insulin resistant overnight?

He does have complications - enlarged heart and suspected tumor in lungs.

Thanks
Rachael

WELCOME I dont recognize your avatar so please forgive me f youve already been welcomed

Its very hard for our helpers to give an opinion with out a spread sheet. Would you be willing to set one of these up?
FDMB SPREADSHEET INSTRUCTIONS
It would greatly help us help you.

As for the resistance over night? I dont know but I am sure theres a kink for this info somewhere but we need to know what insulin you are using.
A "signature" from you would give us that information at a glance:
While waiting for more replies you could set this up also
Theres a list of things you wa
  • under Settings, Click on Signature. This is where you will put information that helps us give you feedback.
    • There is a limit of two lines which may include two links; you may separate pieces with commas, dashes, | etc. This is where you paste the link for your spreadsheet, once it is set up.
    • Add any other text, such as
    • Caregiver & kitty's name (optional)
    • DX: Date
    • Name of Insulin
    • Name of your meter
    • Diet: "LC wet" or "dry food" or "combo"
    • Dosing: TR or SLGS or Custom (if applicable)
    • DKA or other recent health issue (if applicable)
    • Acro, IAA, or Cushings (if applicable)
    • Spreadsheet link. Please put the signature link on the bottom line of your signature information, on its own, so it is easy to find.
    • Please do not put any information about your location in the signature for security reasons. If you wish to add your country location, please add it to your profile.
Be sure to click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom. If you need help urgently it is important we know these things at a glance. We don’t want to waste valuable time finding out information.nt to add in that link so others will have the full picture of your cats issues.

I know its a LOT but all the the things we ask are VERY important to the health for all members.
