Babu-chiri has developed a cyst on the top of his head, it does not appear to hurt him or anything, but is huge and I think it’s starting to at least annoy him and be bit uncomfortable for him, I’m posting some photos for which I apologize since they are kind of gross but I couldn’t think of a better way to show what I’m trying to describe

It started as a small one, the vet drained it and sent what he took out to a lab and the lab results came back saying that it was compatible with a seroma or hygroma

I’m roughly translating he description on the results (sorry about it but is the best I could do with all the medical terms): base slightly basophilic with erythrocytes and some mononuclear cells, macrophages, some exhibiting erythrophagia, rare lymphocytes and neutrophils. Additionally debris and isolated scales

A few days later it came back and it got bigger than before so the vet prescribed an anti wart medicine (it says it contains salicylic acid and lactic acid) that I have been spreading on it but quite frankly it doesn’t seem to be working

I need help or suggestions if anyone has some advice on what to do and how to treat it

Thank you very much in advance

I would have your vet talk to a specialist. Otherwise I would take him to a specialist.
Maybe some of the surrounding tissue should be removed.
My MurrFee had a sac on his leg and it was surgically removed under local anesthesia and did not come back.

Thanks Larry I will suggest this to the vet, he's probably as much as a specialist as I can get here so I will try and convince him that removing it surgically may be the way to go

Did the vet put on stitches or how did he delt with the "hole " that was left after removing it?

How is Babu-chiri doing? When you said anti-wart meds that reminded me of my first and only wart (gross) and the doctor neglecting to tell me I was spreading it all over the house to our cats. Thankfully my big winter socks and the take-home liquid nitrogen took care of that.

OMG what a problem glad it all got taken care. Regarding Babu well the cyst is a bit smaller since with the anti.wart medicine it kind of blew out, but formed again, I had to wait a couple of days to make sure I wasn't putting medicine on an open wound and we started the process again and we've been at that for a while now, I apply the med it blows out we wait it forms again it's been shrinking but still I don't think we are making a big progress but the vet doesn't want to put Babu under anesthesia so he is not considering removing it surgically yet I think we are going to end at that eventually

I don't know what gross goo is in a cyst, I'd hate to see that think pop and get in his eyes.
Noah had so many medical oddities he could never be put under full anesthesia, it wasn't his age.
You're not picking at it are you Babu?

If your vet knows you're handy with a syringe is draining that thing even a possibility? Not as a way to fix the problem obviously, just to keep it from getting bigger.
I look at those photos and it looks as big as a chestnut.
I was given the okay to give Cynthia her B12 shots only because our doctor knew I too was "handy" with a syringe. We're not supposed to do that but why drag down the system for a simple subQ shot. It's not like I took out her appendix with a steak knife.

Luckyly so far I've catched the thing popping up so I've been able to kind of squeeze it and clean him up before anything got smudged around other than at my pants or arms obviously he had to share some of the gooey stuff with his mom, but there's still a possibility of that happening and yes it's quite big even after having srinked a bit

Same here the vet doesn't want to do it not only because of his age which is something to consider since he's already 19 but also because of his other issues

I have the feeling he kid of is, I think after putting the med on it gets dry and maybe it itches

I think I could do that I don't think it would be an issue with the vet since he knows I gave subq's regularly to one of my cats for a while and my sister's dog and he's even given me antibiotics to shoot Babu once in a while, rules and regulations here are practically non existent here so is more about what I'm courageous enough to do, but he already drained it twice, once to get a sample and send it to a lab to analyze and another at the beginning of the treatment and it only grew again bigger than before so I'm not a fan of doing it again

At 19 I understand why the vet is reluctant about anesthesia. Noah, his three brothers and mamma and papa all had cardiomyopathy so I feel that pain too.
Babu would never have gotten this far without you Veronica, this will all work out.
We still have the calendar, I owe you big time for that. :)

Yes I hope so it doesn't seem like the cyst bothers him much or hurts or anything actually he seems more uncomfortable when I apply the med than when I just leave it alone but it doesn't feel right to me just to leave it since it starts growing

I'm glad you still have that calendar it's nice to have that kind of memories from our loved ones
