(if I posted this in the wrong place please let me know, while I am no stranger to the internet, I've never interacted much in message boards)

My name is John, and my cat Buddy was just diagnosed with diabetes. This is my first experience with feline diabetes. I don't have any questions at the moment, but wanted to introduce myself(and Buddy) as I am sure I will have inquiries in the near future. Buddy is 9 and other than skin allergies to fleas, has had no prior health issues. We will be returning to the vet in a couple days to check his blood for the first time since diagnosis & insulin treatment. I am happy to say that since treatment started on 03/24/23 he has shown much improvement all around. I know this will be a long journey but so far it has been a good start. The insulin injections are easier than I expected, and as I have 3 other cats, the new diet regiment has gone over better than expected. I am glad to have stumbled on this site, and look forward to interacting with you all as we work to make a better life for our feline companions.

Hi John and Buddy and welcome to the forum.
Can you tell us a bit about Buddy please?
What insulin and dose is Buddy on?
Are you feeding a low carb wet diet?
Are you giving 2 main meals before the insulin and then a couple of snacks during the cycles?( the 12 hours between the shots)
Have you thought about home testing the blood glucose so you can see how well or not the insulin is doing and also keeping Buddy safe.
lookkng forward to hearing back from you.
Keep asking questions.

Welcome John and Buddy
Glad to hear he's already feeling better, and we hope to hear more of you two

Also as mentioned before here we have found that home testing is the best way to help your cat, keep him safe and regulate diabetes so I hope you consider doing it
