Hello, everyone.

My cat, Max, was just diagnosed this past Saturday and it's been an interesting few days adjusting him, our other cat Oscar, and ourselves to the changes. He's on 3 units twice a day of Lantus right now, and we switched him to the DM dry food. He's never liked canned food in all his approximate 10 years, so the first two days he totally rejected our attempts to feed him the DM wet food. After reading some of the information on this board yesterday I resolved to transition him to wet food no matter if it killed me! Yesterday I added three pieces of chicken on his dry food and he tried to eat around it but eventually ate them. This morning he was still hungry after his dry food so I put only wet food. Lo and behold...he ate it! Anyway, I'm glad to have found this forum.

Congrats on working on the food change.
It is really important to be home testing the blood glucose when changing the carbohydrate content of meals as dropping them drastically may result in a glucose reduction of 100-200 mg/dL and an insulin dose reduction of 1-2 units. Without home testing, you won't know if the glucose is dropping to a dangerously low level.

I'm definitely researching this. Thanks!
