Hi all!

We just stopped in with a Caturday update. Things are going great at the Beethoven abode. He is feisty as ever when he’s awake. It still amazes me how much cats can sleep though. We’ve had a cool summer and he has had lots of deck time watching whatever it is he sees out there. Sometimes he just meditates on a tree or bush, maybe waiting for a squirrel or chickadee to appear.

DH and I bought a house in Eugene, OR, where we’re going to retire in another year or so. We spend some weekends there and have taken Beethoven with us. It’s about a 5-hour drive. He’s never traveled much or very well, but when our only experience has been trips to see the vettybean or to stay at the kitty condos, it wasn’t particularly fun for him. Turns out, he doesn’t mind riding in the car at all. He was kind of restless at first. He couldn’t sleep because he jumped at every little bump in the road, but he eventually got over that and slept quite sweetly. He loves exploring the new house. We’re talking about building a screened-in deck so he can be almost outside without roaming. We don’t let him roam, since he’s deaf and might not notice cars or other threats to his safety. He’s also quite territorial, and there would be fighting.

Beethoven’s health report is perfect. I check his BG occasionally, but it almost seems unnecessary. I would be able to tell if it ever was high. I think I check it just to feel good about how normal it is.

I sneak into LL occasionally to see what’s new. I have to say there are a lot of new names. The turnover here is high. The best thing is people finding FDMB quickly when their kitties are diagnosed. I think that’s the real key to getting to remission. Beethoven was diagnosed and on Lantus for 8 months before I found FDMB. Once we got with the program, it took just 3 months to go OTJ. I truly believe he could have done that months earlier if only I had known. So now he’s been OTJ for 9 months.

it's great to see you!

What a great picture of Beethoven, he looks good. I think the screened deck sounds like a great idea. My mom used to have a screened porch and her cats were out there all the time. They can be outside and still be safe (and you can be outside and be safe from mosquitos).

It's great to hear from you!! Congrats on the house in Eugene. You should check out Dawn/Nova's condo from a few days ago. She has a picture of her outdoor kitty condo. Being a city dweller, I was quite jealous. It's a great photo of Beethoven. He looks quite the lord of the jungle.

Glad to hear Beethoven is doing so well, and likes to travel with you now. I think he would love a screened porch, I know I would. : )

Good to see you Ruth. Glad Beethoven is doing well. Congratulation on you property in Oregon. That picture is great. Pop in more often.

So great to hear about Beethoven's continued good health...congratulations on the 9 months OTJ!
You are lucky to have your new retirement home all figured out....so great!! My DD just bought a place to live in Cave Junction...maybe you can wave to her when you visit Eugene again!
It's a little far from the West Coast of Florida, but maybe I will visit Oregon one day....must be gorgeous!
Thanks so much for filling us in on your adventures! Hugs to you both!! :YMHUG:
