Heat sensitivity?

Does anyone have a sugar baby who's sensitive to light/heat? Buddy used to love to sleep in any sunbeam he could find - no matter how much he had to contort himself to fit. Now it seems he's not able to tolerate direct sunlight. I've watched on numerous occasions how he'll start in a sunny patch but quickly move to a less lit area. He seems to handle filtered sunlight (through blinds) or early morning/later afternoon sun, but not the prime of day which used to be his favorite.

Eleanor is seeking cool spots. It's barely warm in her favorite spots but I find her sprawled out on the cool shower floor instead. Last night I left the window open and it got quite chilly, I realized she wasn't under my blanket with me as she would have been in the past, and I found her snoozing away, happy as anything, right next to the open window.
My hyperthyroid cat has had this problem for a couple of years as well.

My cat Sitka is 19 and does seem a little more sensitive to sunlight. She'll go for the most direct sun first but then move over as she gets warmed up. Of course I live in Oregon and we don't get that much sun in the winter and spring so Sitka doesn't get it as much as she'd like probably :).

I did some quick reading and learned that human diabetics can be sensitive to heat. So I guess it makes sense that our sugar cats could too!

Also be on the alert for inflammatory conditins such as pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel disease.

Cooler temps may feel better on body parts with inflammation.

Spitzer had both and was always lying were he could be stretched out and cooler.

Good point! Gratefully he's not showing signs of IBS or pancreatitis but good point about inflammation. He does have arthritis that's being treated - maybe he likes the coolness of the closet because he can spread out his long body. He's not hiding, just likes the cool.
