Hello,
My diabetic cat recently started Glargine and now she has begun to shake her head. She did this on the PZI before I changed her to once a day. Her numbers were also high as they are with the Glargine. When I changed her to once a day the head shaking stopped and I got much lower numbers. Is there any connection, please?

I find my cat doing that too! I'm anxious to see if anyone knows what that's all about!!

Hi Carol

I dont know about that, kinda odd thou...by the way, you may want to cross post this issue to the Health forum as well, to get u more eyes on the issue.
Is your current spreadsheet all Lantus numbers? Just a note, you may want to make a note in there when you began Lantus and when PZI ended.
Hope you get some thoughts on the head shaking.

Head shaking is most often an ear infection though it could be parasites. An active ear infection will affect bg's negatively so that could be the reason you're not seeing great response to the insulin. Treatment for ear infections may include a drug called triotic. If your vet prescribes this (it goes in the ear) be advised it's got a steroid in it and it will raise the bg's while under treatment. It's ok to use it, just remember it's not going to help the numbers for a time. It's important to get kitty checked out because an ear infection can get very bad if left untreated. I once made the mistake of treating a cat for ear mites when he really had an ear infection, which led to the mite medication really hurting him. If I'd have just gone to the vet in the first place he would have been out of pain much faster.
