Having trouble with sub-q fluids to Tommy

Good evening, Tommy was diagnosed on Tuesday with pancreatis. We attempted to give him sub-q fluids last night but it did not go well. Tommy started growling and just would not let us complete his dosage. Is there anything else we can do to get more fluids in him. He is super aggressive at the vets and I am trying not to stress him any further.

I am not sure of your history but I had another cat who had kidney issues. I had to give Sub-q's to Terror every day. One hint I did discover was to warm the bag.
Take a dish rag/towel and soak it in warm water. Wrap the bag to warm the iv.

When we started we had to wrap him in a towel (like a baritto) and hold him in my lap. I sat on the edge og the tub with the iv hanging on the shower pole. Later he was so good he would lay on the floor on a towel or the sink.

I remember it took a little to get the needle thing down- too big and it goes quicker but hurts. too small and it takes forever to get all in (not sure how much you are giving).

Hope that helps, for hints you might also look at boards for feline kidney desease (don;t remember the addy) as most of them are doing sub-q's.

I'm not sure if you've seen this, but Marje (a longtime board member who posts in Lantus TR) gives her kitty Gus sub-q fluids every day. She posted a great video on Youtube that I think would be helpful to you.

Bob, my FD kitty, needed sub-q fluids dozens of times last year, and while I managed my way through it, I wish Marje's video had been available back then, because it would have helped me a great deal.
