Been running curves the last few cycles. Today's is like he didn't even get the insulin :/ Asked hubby if possible fur shot but he doesn't think so. Gosh I just wish I could level this kid out already!! Waiting for a consult with the Internal Med vet to see him later this week, hoping they have a cancellation come up sooner!

That is ugly. The last two were not so bad. What do you think about increasing by .5 and see if he improves?

I will admit I am very confused with his numbers, so I have no great confidence in an increase. He gets some decent numbers and then he's in the reds/blacks again. I keep thinking there is something else going on......

Yes..it is ugly.
Maybe he is resistant to the insulin? There is a link on this....have to find it.
Could the ProZinc you have be compromised/degraded/old/or something?

Sending good number vines to you.

That's just it Sue if I honestly thought it would help I'd be all over it but I'm losing confidence that more is all he needs as well. Do you think I should try it to get it down or run more holding at 2?

It's a new bottle just opened in Oct & although we kinda thought that to may be it there's times it drops him by 100's. Just doesn't seem logical it would do that at all in either case, resistant or compromised. But I did feed turkey last night so I was kind of surprised he didn't get any lower with that.

Are you shooting in the same location every time? Sometimes that can make a difference.

Are you rolling the bottle gently before drawing up the insulin? ProZinc must be well mixed.

We are in the dark, so who knows what might help. He does get decent midcycle numbers - sometimes- but the preshots are so high. The three times a day dosing should have changed that for the better if it was that the insulin wasn't lasting long enough, but that seemed to make it worse. So I would think he is bouncing except that it seems to happen almost immediately - which is unusual - and his lows don't seem low enough to cause a bounce that high.

If you can monitor, you could up by .5. The good news is that he does seem to react within a cycle when you have made a change, so you would probably see a change right away if you are going to see one?

We shoot behind the shoulder but we alternate sides at each shot. Yep I gently roll the insulin & it's equally cloudy before I draw.

I guess that's just what's so weird, like I said he does act better a lil higher than normal so for awhile I just thought that was his best. I've always felt like he bounced if he got below 150 & when we backed off insulin it seemed to work. But all the tricks in the bag that used to work no longer do now since the DKA. It's just got to be something lingering from that but I don't know enough about that to know what it could possibly be. I would still guess infection would show up in blood work but it's not there. Unless it's thyroid/adrenals that's all I can think of. He did come down pmps so I tried 2U again & I'm trying FF Turkey tonight. Poor guy is tired of getting stuck so much :(

How consistent is the level of carbs in the food you are giving?

Have you observed any changes in the food? Different batches can vary in consistency and ingredients. You may want to track batch numbers, just in case.

I just commented on my post in health as well, I'm thinking pancreatitis!! He has all the signs!! I mean ALL! It also says it can cause them to become insulin resistant. I'm going to call the vet 1st thing tomorrow & see about getting him tested! Anyone here have experience with it with a sugar cat?

I've noticed he's not eating near as much as usual. It's all just come on in the last week so hopefully I can get it under control quickly! That's a great link thanks!!

Ok following BJM's advice here from health post do I increase insulin? 0.5 & monitor? I didn't think if he was resistant an increase would help but I don't know.

An advantage to ProZinc is you can shoot what you see when you know some of how he responds. Be judicious in amounts and monitor closely.
