Not seeking diet or dosing help...we've been at this for a while

We may be switching insulin again.
On Prozinc now, previously Lantus.
We've continued to have a hard time controlling our complicated kitty's rollercoaster BG levels.

The internal med specialist is very gung-ho on Toujeo even though it's a new insulin. He has some challenging previously difficult to control BG dogs on it and he says some cats as well but hasn't supplied specifics on the cats

He's talked at lot about how it's peakless...how for a kitty like ours should do well on it...help with hypo worries.

Our cat also has very high triglycerides (1000 fasted, 1700 not fasted)...she's negative for pancreatitis labs are current this month.

If you've made the switch to Toujeo can you PLEASE share with us what led to that choice
What you went from or tried before switching
What your kitty is experiencing now?
Better? Worse? Side effects?

This is worrisome ...so hard to find info for cats with it.
Thanks so much!!

Toujeo is just a U300 (300 units per ml) vice regular glargine which is U100 (100 units per ml) it is supposed to giver a flatter curve in humans. Since it is U300 is is hard to give non-integer unit doses.doses. There are no U300 syringes and the Solar Star pen does does in 1 unit increments. The Max Solar Star pen doses in 2 unit increments.

Other insulins you might want to consider are Levemir or Tresiba. Many cats get flatter cycles with Levemir, and it's quite similar to Lantus. We've had a few cats on Tresiba too. There's a forum specially for Tresiba if you want to read how cats did there. If you read that link Diane posted, you'll see Toujeo is very rare here, and I don't know of anything published about cats on it. If your vet has seen some articles on cats on Toujeo, would love to hear about it.
