Hi all,

I've been super busy recently so haven't had time to post/comment. Just wandered what your thoughts are on his s/sheet pls..?

He seems to have a sort of 3 day cycle so we're up, then we come down, then we bounce back up again. There isn't much other pattern to it really - unless you guys can see something I can't? In amongst all the purple numbers there are spots of blue and green which is what makes me cautious on any dose increase as he is just so unpredictable (other than what goes down, always comes up!!)

I feed him am and pm, and a snack when I test mid day and mid night (it's usually a teaspoon). Some of his spikes have been when things have been stolen (I now know he can open tupperware!!!!!) ohmygod_smile

Hope everyone else is doing OK

xx

One thought is related to food. I would not give Harry food past nadir. If you are feeding late in the cycle, there's less Lantus to offset the effect of the food. As a result, it can cause a higher pre-shot number.

I'd like to suggest that you do what you an to get at least one spot check every cycle. If Harry is seeing high greens, it may be worth considering a dose increase. I think you would need some more tests to know just where his numbers are, though, before increasing.

Thanks Sienne,

There is pretty much always one spot check per cycle, am and pm now!! and I am at a loss to know when his Nadir is really? Depending on his pre shot number it seems to be all over the place - unless you can see summat I can't?

If we have a low pre-shot - then he seems to spike up quite quickly, if we have a high pre shot, it seems to be past mid-day that he is lower. Sometimes I have found he peaks and then gets lower before his shot... there just doesn't seem to be any pattern I can see?

I think food could be the answer - if he wasn't so fussy!!! He does seem to spike quite fast after eating so changing from a pattern of free feeding to one of tighter regulation will probably help. I am restricting myself to only giving a teaspoon in the night unless it's a really low number - whereas before I was giving quite a bit of food. I know now that he comes up quite fast once fed so can relax a bit more about that now.
