Another day to start fresh. Did several bg last night and they are on ss. At 4:30, he was 370 and I gave 1.5 units regular insulin per vet to avoid ketones. AMPS 345, and we will see how things go today.

I did read the Nebie note from kitty - I had read it when Harley was first dx in May 2009. I re-read it a couple weeks ago and laughed but now I am right back to that stage - even after all this time.

Right now he is sleeping - is he really? or is it ketones - those are the thoughts right now. I know I am doing the best I can with the information I have received so...deep breath and here we go.

Have a good day everyone.

Re: Harley 7/19 AMPS 345

Sorry, I keep forgetting to link the previous days post.

Jojo was the first one that introduced me to the regular insulin. The regular is Humulin R. Because Harley was getting ketones so often and it was getting expensive to go there every time, the his University vet showed me how to use the Humulin insulin. The plan was, if he stayed in the 300's too long, give him a small amount of regular to make sure the ketones don't return. It has worked well so far.

Re: Harley 7/19 PMPS 197

Yahoo! PMPS 197. I shot 6.5 tonight and did not feed after 4:00. I did give a treat at 3:45 of 3/4 oz raw cooked chicken - it still bothers me when he cries for food...but I think the number looks good.

I will try and get a +3 and maybe a +6 if I wake up in time.

+3 - 308. I am giving a little raw chicken - he is back to crying for food. I think this looks ok.
