Since she got out of the yellow yesterday and had a nice long surf in the blue waters but still has yet to see any green territory so I took her dose up just a smidge this morning to .75u.

Still overall much happier to wake up to yellow numbers than I am to pink and reds, and I would have laid money a few weeks ago after a long string of blues like she had yesterday she would have been in the reds if not black because she would have bounced so high. I can so live with an amps of 252 at least for now.

Feb 29 is such a weird day. I feel like I should do something special to commemorate it just because the next one isn't for four more years. But then , it's just another day....

Actually, it was nearly 60 today and I was down town (Chicago) to have lunch with a friend and was able to walk around and enjoy the spring-like weather. Now the temps are dropping though.

Mel, did you increase from .5u to .75u? You may find that is too much. Lev, especially in smaller dose, likes small increases (determined by percentages). You just increased by 50%. So, if she starts swinging, back down to a fat .5u (something like .6u) and see if that stops the swings. Just don't be dismayed by swings and think lev isn't working any better than lantus for her.

Actually I went from a fat .5u ( more like .6u) to .75 ish and so far no big swings. Of course she has only had one shot at that new dose and I know from the 7 months of fighting with the Lantus that it is going to take her awhile to settle in on the new dose. But even today she is doing great on the Lev.

I know what you mean about feeling like you should do something to celebrate Feb 29th, it seems like there should be something. temp wise it was beautiful here today but our winds were howling at about 40 mph and with hair down past my hiney I'm so not going out in that...lol.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for me, roll out of bed at 6am get everyone tested, fed and shot, then at 7:30 take my step-daughter to the dental surgery unit to get 4 teeth pulled, run her back to her house then race home, test Musette and Maxwell, toss them both into a carrier and head back into town to the vet's for their pre-dental exams, then hopefully get home in time to give everyone lunch, then go pick up a new catnip toy and a special treat of sardines for Onyx who will be celebrating his 17th birthday!

Then if I'm real lucky maybe I can squeeze in a nap :-D

OK - sorry. I didn't look back at her SS for the old dose. But do make small changes and allow plenty of time for settling.

Whew, you will be running around in circles tomorrow! Just take time to be careful with all that driving. Why is step daughter having 4 teeth pulled? Is she getting braces or something? My sisters and I all had narrow palettes and smallish mouths so we had to have teeth pulled to accommodate the shifting teeth from braces. I held onto my wisdom teeth though!

I know what you mean about long hair and wind. It was windy here all day too and my hair is almost to my waist so I had it clipped back at the temples and then in a pony tail while I was outside. I hate it when you get out of the car and the wind blows it all into your face and you can't see anything.

Good luck with everything tomorrow.

When she was very young she had cronic bad ear infections and the meds they gave her back then made the enamel on her teeth very weak and then when she got pregnant with her son 4 years ago since she was so young (16) her diet wasn't the best in the world and that further compromised her teeth, so now she is about to lose 4 more, already lost the wisdom teeth and these are the ones that the wisdom teeth were rubbing against.

I can really feel for her as I had to have all of mine pulled back when I was 38 but for an entirely different reason, mine where very brittle from the drugs they gave me as a baby when I had Scarlet Fever, then I married an idiot the first time around and he managed to break most of them so now mine go in a cup at night.. But since they are going to have to pull so many on her they don't want her driving, so the other grandma gets the grandbabies and I get to play taxi.

At least the wind is suppose to be down tomorrow so I won't have to fight that while out, I hate driving our truck when it is super windy and Maxwell just hates the wind, but I can't blame him after surviving a hurricane. But I do feel bad for him when the wind really gets to howling out here, my big confident guy turns into a clingy shaking fellow. He wants me to either hold all 17 lbs of him or carrying him everywhere I go when it is super windy out and he only gets worse if it is also raining. Thankfully if the forecast holds for tomorrow we should have a beautiful day to make our outing, so far they are saying 60 degrees and sunny Yay!

Musette is looking really good on the .75 she was already back into the blue numbers by +3 tonight as she tested at 198 then. And she is just so much more relaxed on the Lev. She doesn't drop terribly fast anymore and even when she starts to climb it is nice and slow I have lots of hope for her now that we made the switch. I know I certainly feel better about when I have to leave her for extended periods of time in the evenings to go out with my husband again to hear his band play, I'm not nearly so worried about her taking a nose dive while we are gone. Also most of his gigs right now are fairly close so we can be home by about 3am, he does have one coming up in a couple of weeks that will be an overnight trip but the owner of the bar where they are playing is family and has an apartment for the band to stay in and has already given his blessing for us to bring Maxwell and Musette with us so that we can make sure she gets her insulin on time and that I will be around to test her. Kind of a nice benefit of two of his band mates also being insulin dependent diabetics and all of them being cat lovers.
