Halloween Remembrances

Every year at Halloween*, there is a long tradition on the Lantus board of remembering those kitties, and sometimes caregivers, who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge during the past year. Despite my time on the Board, I don't know when or how that tradition started. The thought behind the tradition is that the veil between the the two sides of the Bridge are at their thinnest on Halloween. It is the time when we honor those who are no longer with us but who are fondly remembered.

Thanks for posting this, Wendy. It matters that it's Halloween, too, when the veil between worlds is thin. All these beautiful kitties. All of you. :cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug::cat::bighug:

Popping up to say hello and thank you for the good wishes. I wonder if the tradition is not also something of an offshoot of Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead, when the dead are thought to come back to visit their loved ones on November 1 and 2. Los animalitos surely come back too.

I miss my Ben terribly, as we all miss those kitties who have gone ahead of us. There is one bright spot, and that is Squirrel. I was worried that she would be too lonely, since she had literally never been alone before, but she loves being the single cat and is happier than ever. At 15 she has even turned into a cuddler. She is pragmatic and looks for comfort in the present.

My condolences to everyone who has lost a furbaby this year. We'll see them again, surely.
