Hi,my cat has diabetes,EPI,IBD and chronic pancreatitis from one and a half week his BG is rising and he eliminate hairballs everyday in his feces,I think he also have pains.I have brushed him but it doesn't seem to be enough. Please give me some ideas so I can help him.Thank you

Is Mic overgrooming?
It is normal for a cat pass hair in their feces because they injest hair as the normal part of grooming. If overgrooming it is in spots or all over Mic's body?If not overgrooming then just brush.

It would be good to check on other issues to see if there's some reason why he's shedding a bit more than normal, thyroid and aldosterone come to mind, but if he usually sheds a lot, I know Babu and some of my cyvies do especially when the warm weather begins there is no amount of brushing bathing or anything that can save us from hairballs in shedding season (and it happens twice a year), and since most of the hairballs comercial remedies are not diabetic friendly, I've found that giving them a bit of vaseline or SEB (slippery bark elm) helps

Olive oil works wonders too, if your baby eats wet food -

For a 3 oz Fancy feast can, use 1/2 teaspoon.

For a 5.5 oz Friskies, etc. can use 1 teaspoon.

Works best if you can either heat the oil first and mix it in, or mix it in and heat the whole food bowl JUST until warm.

Stir A LOT and let it sit for 5 min. or so so the oil can take on the food flavors.

Another alternative is canned tuna in OIL - save the oil and use that.

For grooming - 2 times of day are GREAT for this - in the morning, when you're snuggling him, groom him - it'll give him energy and rev up his appetite for breakfast.

Before bed - groom him, again it'll rev him for dinner and sate him to sleep.

Good luck!!! xxx

Would you happen to know if it matters if it’s regular olive oil or extra virgin?

Extra virgin seems to work a bit better on their systems, or at least, slower.

Regular olive oil packs a bigger punch and even at the amounts I listed can cause some diarrhea and in some cats can cause a bit of belching (gas) and it's a bit higher in packing on fat so it's something to watch for if your baby needs to maintain weight or is on certain medications (it can slow the absorption a bit, pill based) - nothing fatal but just some digestive upset.

If you use the regular I'd suggest cutting the dose in half for a week and monitoring - if all is well, go the full dose and keep watch. You can definitely adjust as needed, just don't want TOO much or something TOO strong/heavy at too high an amount at first.

Thank you,
I give him extra virgin. He seems to be doing fine with hairballs, perhaps is a little digestive upset because his BG is high, we made some blood test the basics and nothing has changed from 30.01.2019.
