Well, my cats are loving the switch from dry to canned food, but now they have a lot more hairballs. They don't seem to have trouble getting them out, but with a toddler and baby running/crawling around, it would be a lot easier if I wasn't finding them all over the main floor of the house. Is there any treatment that is FD compatible that I can give them so that they go down and out into the litter box rather than coming up? I know that there are hairball treats, but I don't know how they are in terms of carbs/sugars.

Vetbasis is recommended because it is sugar-free but last I heard, it was hard to find in stores: http://www.vetbasis.com/ You can try an online pet store or Amazon.com or something.

A dab of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) will work, too. Put the dab on the paw and the cat will lick it off and ingest it.

I just ordered some vetbasis...but until it arrives, how much vaseline and how often? I gave some this weekend, but had a hairball thrown up on my bed yesterday, which is definitely not okay. :-x
