? Hairball Products

I want to start my furbabies back on something to help w Hairballs & dry skin.
What should I look for in the ingredients to make sure it’s safe for diabetics ? I’m waiting on a reply back from Vet that specializes in holistic health. But was wondering if anyone here already has a answer for me :)
 
I’ve been using a teaspoon of pumpkin laced with 1/3 capsule of Renew Life Ultra Probiotics once per day. I add 1/4 hard boiled egg yolk to the mix about once every three days. Plus I have been feeding a few tablespoons of Dr. Elsey’s Clean Protein Chicken dry kibble. Bama hasn’t had a hairball in 3 weeks and has had better BMs, too. An all wet diet has less fiber than what he got when he ate both wet and dry. More water was not the answer for him.

hmmm i think you should experiment for the both of us and use some on your skin to see if helps, the cat's tongue may do wonders at exfoliating the dry patches lol

i am currently using VetPro complete pure wild salmon oil (bought on amazon), seems to be okay and tolerated by the cats overall. i was using the only natural pets' version for last couple years though but, my last bottle went bad really fast so decided to change to the VetPro.

This particular omega 3 has coQ10 for the heart too and Rico had a heart issue they have some without too-

I have been using many of the products and extremely impressed...the green lipid mussle with the omega has NOTICEABLY improved both Dre and Ricos trotting up and down stairs. At 19 and 20 I will take it!! I have tried others and none have compared. I may even start carrying it in my store I am so impressed as well as my vet considering it.

The human products are really nice too and I am pretty particular.

""the green lipid mussle with the omega "" i only see a human one ( https://www.xtend-life.com/products/green-lipped-mussel-powder#description ), is this the one you are talking about?? how much do you use on your older kitties?? my big oldest cat has been slowing down these days and started walking with a limp last week so i started him on a full spectrum CBD oil and it has helped a lot but, if i miss his daily dose, he is back to walking with a limp again by late afternoon.. something more long term would be nicer.
 
I have no idea what to do about Fena's hairballs, she's feeling so much better and grooming again (I help of course) beyond the wet canned food and 3-3.5 tablespoons added to breakfast, lunch and dinner (not to mention added water to her leftovers so they don't dry out or her brothers) - Mao, her brother, longer haired, gets 1.5" Laxatona OTC once a week plus 1 tablespoon during each of his meals, more added to his leftovers.

IS there an okay remedy for a diabetic cat, and/or cats who aren't that you want to keep that way?

Hi, I give Dre a full capsule 1-2 x a day he is 18 pounds. Rico is 12-13 pounds he gets 1 of the green lipid and 1 omega 3 per day and you are correct the "human" ones. They do make a pet joint supplement but the human is the same (sometimes a little stronger) but my boys are 19 and 20 and doing great. I should add they have also been on adequan since about 15 years but the xtendlife has made such a difference especially for my big boy.

have you tried leaving a jar of vaseline open? Dre licks right out of it and seems to know when he needs it. The hairball remedies are as far as I know based with vaseline. The hairballs will slide out and relieve constipation some.

No I haven't tried that, the Vaseline I got was for testing.. Mao can have the Laxatone, I think, he's not diabetic but I haven't tested him. I thought I heard giving non-petroleum products for hairballs was best...? I'm still trying to learn so much!

thanks, going to try it out with my cat and also keep giving him the cbd oil for pain until the green lipid has time to build up in his system. curious about how long did you notice it start helping your boys? oh and after reading the reviews on this product, am going to try it out on the hubby who complains about his achy knees but, won't drink his joint juice! never heard about green lipid mussel before you mentioned it, so glad you did :)

I watch them pretty close and I have lots of stairs--after a week I noticed him moving a bit better but by week 2 he was on the move. I give him the omega as well-and as I mentioned the adequan weekly shot to slow the progression of arthritis. I got it for me too but the boys seem to get it more than me :rolleyes:
 
I was giving them canna pet capsules daily before and I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it-they haven't had it in a few months. I didn't do the oil which I think is stronger but the canna did help them relax more one resting. Since the lipid and omega they seem to be pretty bouncy :cat:
 
I'm screwed, pardon my french.. but the HELL with my state. *shakes head* Yet another slam, jesus.. I just want my babies to eat, take their meds, be good babies and happy, play, enjoy their life... and they can't, not fully... I'm gonna sign off soon before I lose it. I can't help it.
 
I've given my very very hairy Himmies SEB during shedding season and it has helped them with the hairball problem that no matter what they eat including omegas they have at least twice a year, and is safe for diabetic and CKD cats
