Hi all! I've been posting on the main health forum for awhile but was recommended to visit here. I've been reading and decided to introduce myself and Gypsy. I'm hoping you all can help me make sense of her numbers. She's consistent these days...but high. She's usually in the 300s morning and evening. I try to get mid cycle tests when I can which is usually the weekend. Today she was at 432 this AM and 174 at +6. I'm just not sure what to do. Obviously her numbers should be lower...should I increase dose do you think?

Welcome Gypsy and Rachel,

Hard to tell for sure looking at the ss. I know it 's hard to get nadirs, but without them, it 's hard to give advice. The insulin is definitely working and the numbers are generally good. Today she dropped over 50% which is a big drop. That can usually cause a bounce into higher numbers so your pmps could be high.

I am wondering why you moved from no insulin to 2.5?

My vet had prescribed 2.5. That's what I was giving her before I came here and learned how to test at home. I'll let you know where we are at PMPS. Thanks so much!!!

So, pretty flat cycle with safe numbers and no big bounce. But those preshot numbers are really quite good. I guess you could increase by .25 but I'd only do it if I could monitor, at least between that 5-7 hours. And be ready to intervene with food if she drops too low.
