Gave 0.4 again. Rainy day here!

Gave 1/4 Pepcid. She ate just a little and someone was sick while I was gone yesterday. Ate treats with gusto though!! Hoping she was just a little ick and Pepcid does the trick. Been drinking water with joy since I fixed their water fountain. I'll keep you posted. Hope this doesn't turn into her sick again.

She said she didn't find anything but thought it might be inflamed intestines or a slight infection since her white count was elevated slightly. I might panic over nothing...she did eat just not lots. I just worry now. I want to run straight to the vet just to check but I'm still paying off last times bill. Maybe I'll see how she does tonight with dinner. I hope I'm worried over nothing.
 
Well she refuses to eat. Won't even try treats. Gave some Pepcid but I don't think it did anything. If she won't eat tomorrow guess we go back to the vet. I'm thinking it may be her time. She is so unhappy and what I do just makes her worse.

No insulin. Didn't know whether to give or not but seems like she is too low to shoot with no food.
 
Not sure syring feeding is good. Not only does she hate it, but I tried once and she threw up.

We could suggest Syringe feeding/baby food - lots of options, but I understand. You don't want her in pain and miserable.

My usual comment : whatever you decide is the right decision because you make it out of love.
 
I'll see what the vet says tomorrow about it all. Have you ever syringe fed? I hate to put her through that for long periods of time. I can't imagine she would be happy. She despises the little Pepcid I give her in a syringe. She runs from me all the time if I do it for awhile.
 
No, I haven't but there are lots of people here who have. If you decide you want to try it, I'd post a new thread on Health and ask for tips and advice.
 
Thanks Sue. I want you to know I'm not heartless. I mean I could deal with syringe feeding some I am sure. I love my girl. I just don't want to put her through something that makes her miserable. I don't want to force feed her forever making her miserable for the rest of whatever life she has. I'll let you all know about our vet visit.
 
No insulin is right, correct? She's low and I didn't want to hypo her since she won't eat a bite.
 
Hoping you will get some answers. Of course, you are not heartless, Rachel. A heartless person finds out their cat is diabetic and gives up. You have given Gypsy your all, every day, every single day. Your sadness is because you want her to be happy and contented - completely understandable.
 
I had a civvie Max with a PEG (percutaneous endogastric) feeding tube for a while; it took time to blenderize the food and syringe it down, then flush with water. He tolerated it well. He passed from a heart attack later.

Its an option, not a mandate.

If Gypsy hates, hates, hates being messed with, you may not want to do syringe or tube feeding (my civvie Kiddle wouldn't let me do subQ fluids and I had to respect that). If she accepts that easily and she is stable enough for it, a feeding tube may help her.
