Hello everyone,

I wasn’t sure if I can leave this question on diabetes page. My cat went remission July last year. I have been feeding him wet food only. But I do have to make a 16 hour trip and no one can take care of him while I am gone.

I can leave wet foods for him. What I am worrying about is I have another cat and she is very picky eater and only like to have dry food. So I do have to leave dry food for her while I am gone.

I am 100% sure that my diabetes boy will try to take that dry kibble. I am wondering if it is ok to have one time dry food consumption for cat in remission. His number is still good around 100 range.

I do have to make a business trip from early in the morning, 3am and when I come back it will be around 6~ 7 pm. I didn’t have any long trip until now since he was diagnosed with diabetes.

Any advise will help. Or need to change the subject to other side of forum, let me know.
Thank you in advance.

Have you ever tried the low carb kibble for your other cat? Such as the Dr. Elseys. Or some of the air dried foods like Ziwipeak. If this becomes a more frequent thing, you can invest in feeders that only open for a cat wearing a particular tag.

The other option is how you design where she is fed. If she's quite a bit smaller than GuMung, you can put her food in a container/box with a doorway that GuMung won't fit through.

Thank you Wendy for your reply! Hmm she is about the same size as Gumung Her favorite is the actually Royal Canin Glycobalance dry food for Diabetic cat. Ever since Gumung diagnosed with diabetes, I tried several food, and that’s when Danchu, other cat, had became very addicted to it. I was concerned and also discussed with my vet, he mentioned it’s ok to feed cat with normal BG. And also I do test her whenever I test Gumung too.

I know this glycobalance is not really meant for diabetic cat since its high on carbs. Maybe I should just stick to one of the cat food and leave a several trays apart from each other and put the a/c on low.

If you leave him lots of wet food, he might fill up on that and not eat as much dry. A one time dry food feed should be OK.

I see. I should use several tray then. Thank you Wendy! Also his numbers are between high 80s ~ 120. This is normal for remission cat? Does the number have to be lower than this?
