Gum 'bubbles'

Milo is OTJ for almost 2 years....

I noticed on his gums (under the canine teeth??? the big long ones) he has a bulge on each side. He appears fine...I first noticed about 2 months ago. I have looked online at gum pictures and it looks like this is normal in some cats. I have a vet appointment today but don't want to stress him (or spend extra money) if it is 'normal'.

Guess I am asking if it is normal for a kitty to have bump on gum near these teeth--- he is eating fine, acting fine, teeth are clean and nothing is red near any of this.

Thanks

In a human, I'd ask about teeth grinding! I doubt that'd be true for a cat.

If it is symetric on both sides, its probably nothing. If it is noticeably larger on one side or the other, I'd wonder about a bone growth of some sort, benign or malignant.

Thanks...I spent another hour on computer searching and on some site I found someone who posted similar thing. Some people responded and cats can get callus' like humans. The person posted a pic and it looked exactly like what Milo has. At this point I am going to cancel vet I think...they are symmetrical which makes me think it is something rubbing. Since he is normal crazy self it makes me think it is nothing also.

Thanks again for the reply. I knew this was the place to come.

Stinky was only about 2 in those pictures i think so not sure it would be recession at that age? but if you look closely at the pictures, just below/behind his lower canine, you can see some odd little bubble, which he has on both sides of his mouth and i've seen on a couple of my other cats since inquiring about them on him

eta: was thinking about it on the way home and realized your talking about the redness around his upper canine in the picture probably Larry?

this is my Stinky and I noticed these a few years ago and asked on the board. everyone said they were nothing to worry about and if i remember correctly, i emailed the pics to my vet and she said the same thing at the time.

That is what they look like...in fact Stinky looks like Milo! I love the name...keep saying I want a Great Dane and I want to name him Stinky!

THANKS everyone for the replies. I love this board and knew that this was the place to turn. I found this board almost 2 years ago when we were having diabetes issues (glucose rising, bad vet, etc.). Thanks to everyone here we will celebrate 2 years OTJ in September. I am convinced if we had not found this site and a new wonderful vet Milo wouldn't be here.

I will continue to watch and when we go for our yearly exam show vet. Figured since he was acting normal and eating like a pig he was fine. Aprreciate everything again!

I actually have one of those 'gum bubbles' on my own gumline.

My dentist says it is just a bony overgrowth of the jaw where the tooth goes in.

I've had it for years. It just sorta 'sticks out' there like an un-popped pimple,
except it is very hard.
