At what numbers do you lower a dose?
At what numbers do you skip a dose?

Nimo's numbers are coming down, hurray, but I want to have a clear idea of what to do if they are lower than I'm used to (in the very short time we've been doing this)
Thanks!

Lantus Tight Regulation Protocol

You want a new diabetic to stay above 50 on a human glucometer (or 80 on a pet-specific glucometer)

You want to keep as much of the day as possible below 150 on a human glucometer for a diabetic cat.

You want urine tests for ketones to be 0.

You want urine volume to be roughly a half cup clump per day.

Fecal output should be firm but not rock hard.

You want the cat to feel well, be 'happy' - playful or companionable as before becoming ill, and grooming itself normally.

What if he's at 155 , for example, just before a shot? I'm trying to figure out the number range where I would reduce a shot or skip a shot based on glucose level just before giving the shot. Does that make sense?

Generally we stall without feeding to see if the numbers come up but it depends on the cat.
As you have more data and can track how the bg will react, you can shoot low - I've shot in the 60s and others in the 50s but they know how their cat will react and know how to manage that safely.

Do you have any bg numbers for Nimo that you can post?
Are you using Lantus, if so, why don't you start posting on the Lantus Tight Regulation Board? Its a busy board and there's always someone around to give dosing advice.

Thank you so much! I am so disappointed. My 2yo son dropped a piece of frosted cookie and I didn't notice it until after nimo had gotten to it. His levels were high again preshot :( I think spreading out his meals made a big difference for him, though.

Can you add your link to your spreadsheet into your signature, that will help us!

Before you do that though you need to get it set up right, so
1. choose " file" and then "open with google sheets" Thats the file you will use to edit from now on.
2. To share it with us, you choose "Publish to the web" and "start publishing" . You will then see a link in that box that that you put in your signature. it will look kinda like this https:// docs.google.com/spreadsheet / pub?hl=en&hl=en&key=lotsoflettersandnumbers&output=html

Hope that makes sense!

I dont see tonites number on your sheet? Also you should get a +2 or +3 tonite cos that cookie could wear off fast and he could suddenly drop.
