You read that right! He started the call with letting me know I am making him research. He went through my letter point by point and made sure all of my concerns were answered. He said my spreadsheets were great and agreed he made a dosage error, adding that .75 may even be too high. He wants me to do another curve and get some night cycle numbers - no need to continue bringing Charley in unless I notice any behavioral/health changes. I can email or drop off the spreadsheet every two weeks. He also admitted that he did not know there was a conversion for the u100's. He had the conversion dose numbers ready, but asked that I hold firm with the current dose with the u40's for one more week. It was beyond great to hear him say these words. He apologized and was very humble. I did not feel like he was just telling me what I wanted to hear. It was obvious he had been doing some research low carb food, low insulin dosage, needle size, home testing- especially being so adamant on so much on Friday. I am feeling so elated right now. He laughed when i told him all I have to do is yell "Pokey" and Charley comes running for his testing. I need to get it on video for you all to see.

NONE of this would be possible, and Charley would not be as healthy as he is right now - if it was not for you wonderful people!!! Words don't adequately express my appreciation.

That is TREMENDOUS news! Good for you. I am sure you feel so much better now.
Yay!

I am very happy to see you post that! It is far better to have a vet you know that will work WITH you. And consider how many of his future patients you will have helped because you stood up for what you felt was right! Awesome news.

Glad to hear it! There's something to be said for putting your concerns on paper and putting it in their hands. If they honestly read through and are willing to come to the table, (and acknowledge that they are NOT omnipotent!)it's a win-win for everyone involved. Especially Charley!!!

Congrats on making a difference (for Charley AND for the vet!). dancing_cat

Oh that is such wonderful news!!
I am so happy for both of you, and for all of the vets
new diabetic patients! you did a great job!

Thanks all. I know we can still get better numbers, but for now.... :RAHCAT
Hope you all have a good night.

Amazing. Yep, you have an amazing vet. And it took YOU to make him amazing!

Not only is this good news for you and Charley, it's also good news to every other feline/canine diagnosed with diabetes and their owners, AND, yes, it gets even better, it's also good for every vet this vet works or chats with (peer review, etc. You know how docs like to talk with other docs!).

WOOHOO!

WOW! That is great! Just think of the positive influence that you and Charley will make on the Vet's future diabetic cats and dogs! :-D

And, Good on your Vet for being open-minded and reviewing the information that you sent him!

I could have very easily just walked away, I hate confrontation. But, now Charley may give other kitties a better shot at good health.I'm learning a lot about myself through this process.

Pats on the back from all of us. We are SO proud! This is fantastic news and it is all because you were willing to stand up to one of the guys in the white coats.

I agree with everyone that this won't just help you and Charley, but every diabetic cat in his practice from now on. What a lovely legacy.
