Grayson's quite low for +6

Hi all,

I'm a bit worried. It's almost been a week on Caninsulin, I'm just about to head to bed and tested Gracie's bg which is surprisingly low for +5 (12.2 mmol/L, lowest reading he has had so far, which isn't bad but I'm a paranoid newbie). I've been suspecting his nadir to be between +2 to +4 hours. It's just a bit worrying, is this normal? Or is it still too early with starting insulin to tell for sure how far he will drop? I'm testing him again at 05:30, he gets his jab at 06:00. He just marched over to our bed for the night.

On a happy note, we left him alone today and he pooped in his box without any kind of coaxing :D He seems to be settling in quite nicely. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that this is the end of my vinegar + baking soda week!

It's still a safe number and since you're using Caninsulin, he should be starting to come up soon anyway

How WONDERFUL that he's settling in and using his litterbox!! Hope it continues to just get better and better for you and Grayson....you certainly deserve it with how much you've fought for him!

I was a bit late on his AM dose this morning. His AMPS was quite high today, I'm hoping shooting around 15-20 minutes late won't be too much of a problem.

It's not such a problem shooting late with Caninsulin as it is with one of the longer lasting insulins like Lantus as it can last about 8 hours (my boy Romulus nadirs usually +7 or +8 hours) before the effects start wearing off, so you can just shoot normal time tonight.
 
Great to hear Grayson's pooping in his litter box. Long may he continue to do so.

It was so lovely to hear you tell us about Grayson going beddie bye-byes. Sounds like he's soooooo much happier being in his new home with you and your dear manpanion. (Sorry, Jim! Can't resist... ;))
