It's already a beautiful day in eastern NC - sunny and 70s forecast.

Today is the day we go to NC State Univ Vet School for an ultrasound to visually confirm that Grayson's IGF-1 number of 236 is, in fact, Acromegaly as indicated by the bloodwork. We'll be looking to see if he has enlarged organs and other physical characteristics, which after reading extensively, I'm expecting they'll find. If nothing else, we know his colon is enlarged... based on the size of his poops! Will print out some facial pics of him from earlier years and now, so we can see a side-by-side comparison. Just wild to think about him having a "growth spurt", expecially when he's 9 pounds less than a year ago - but I do think he's gotten taller. There are times when his arms look lke Popeye's - but most noticeable to me are the back legs that remind me of a jackrabbit! And his feet are much larger than the other kitties'. I keep thinking I need to photograph his parts w/ a ruler next to them. Unfortunately, he was the only male in his litter, so we don't have any comparison (Acro is more prevalent in males) - his sisters & mom weigh about 9-10 pounds.

He continues to stay in the reds most of the day, although he dropped into the upper yellows yesterdya. PMPS was 388 last night.

This morning he's in the black. YUCK!!! Although this is more than the 30 point change we've been seeing, I'd really love to see a breakthrough in this insulin resistence!

Will keep you guys posted as we know more. Wish us luck today!

AMPS 517 RU442; shot 4.0u
Fed 2 FF Chicken.

He was fidgety at PS, but still high when re-tested not quite an hour later.

Lu you know you have the bestest luck wish from me!
Really hoping the day goes well for you & Baxters friend Grayson.

I will be checking in later today on you guys!
:YMHUG: hugs for you my friend.

I hope this test will fill in the blanks for you and Grayson will get on the right train, too! (See Jenn's thread  )

Your beautiful boy is super lucky to have such a wonderful mommy! Update us when you can -

Yes, it is beautiful here in the Piedmont, too!! Sunny and expected high of '74' - SWEET!!

Hugs -

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

NCSU has guest wireless, so while i'm waiting, I've checked in w/ the board. Thanks for all the well-wishes. So far we've only seen teh 4th yr student. Hopefully doc in soon! Grayson is being a REALLY GOOD BOY!

STILL here at the vet school.... trying to be patient... although i've rarely been accused of being a patient person! They just called (4:30) and said they would be ready to meet w/ me about 6:00. The DOWNside of coming to a teaching hospital!

The UP-side, and there is one, is that Dr. Lunn from Colorado State JUST STARTED HERE YESTERDAY! The are conferring with her... not sure if I'll get to meet with her, but I'm hoping so! WOW! I feel like I must've been living right or something to have her fall in our laps! ;-)

That IS good news! And, teaching hospital or not, you run the risk of having to wait. Sorry.
