Good afternoon -
Grayson continues to do well w/ 2.0u. Over the weekend I think some of his numbers may have been affected by the 2 big happy dogs that were visiting... but yesterday he was settled back into his nearly 100 point range, although a slightly higher preshot than we've been seeing lately. Not much for others, but big for Grayson. And, I continue to see lower preshots (most of the time) AND more yellows, since reducing to 2u. Knock on wood, we've been close, but stayed out of the red the whole time.
Had a vet appt yesterday. Unfortunately, they didn't make sure they had the proper mailers for the IAA test (Acro test can go regular mail; IAA must be frozen, etc.). So MSU is sending prepaid mailers and we'll get those in the works as soon as they arrive. The IAA test is only done on Wednesdays, so it will be next week at the earliest that we have results.
...that being said, I'm really glad we've done the reduction in the meantime. Grayson improved when we dropped from 6 to 3 units. Improved further from 3 to 2 units - AND his appetite is not ravenous (AND he's still eating a reasonable amt). My thought was to see where he went over the weekend (oops, didn't factor in the dogs!). Thought that a curve would give me a good indication of if he was initially having 100 point drops, then less, once settled into the dose... OR if they would be reducing. Seeing yesterdays (and even so far todays) numbers, my inclination was to do one of two things: drop .5 if he stayed in the >50 point range; or increase .5 if he was <50. I'm leaning toward the dropping, and my vet yesterday suggested going all the way down to 1 unit. If this seems to be the right area, then the IAA will indicate if I should be concerned about the minimum drop. Ideally we'd like to see the 50%, but maybe Grayson is just a 35% cat. It's interesting that that range has continued regardless of the dose!
Again, his best cycles have been on .4u, .75u, and 2.2u. Regardless of where we go, slightly up or slightly down, I think we're on the right track! It would just be nice if the BGs were willing to leave the station! (heard there's a new IHOP there!).
