Good afternoon PZI friends!

Yesterdays PMPS we upped Grayson's dose to 2.0 units, and cut out the Clavamox. He actually got down from 443 to 209 @ PMPS +6. Unfortunately, I didn't have numbers at +5... he may have even gotten lower, but I slept instead.

Not sure if his wiggling this morning resulted in a fur shot? I would hope I'm beyond that, but you can never be sure. He free-fed on some FF over night. Seemed to work well for his AMPS:

AMPS 340 Shot 2.0
+3 345
+4 354
TRACE ketones
4.5 325 NADIR??
+6 392
+7.25 415

I wanted different numbers, but I was really talking about 200s and 100s... not back to the 400s... let alone so early in the dance.

Any thoughts?

Had to shoot early as I can't let him climb any further for fear of DKA...

PMPS 444 Shot 2.0
+2 424 hopefully we'll see a drop soon.

Again, his full appetite is NOT present - on my way out to pick up some more ketostix.

No comments, other than maybe today's flat cycle is a reaction to yesterday's lower numbers. I know they are not really low, but he hasn't seen the 200s in weeks-- maybe a little liver panic. Since you don't have additional numbers from last night-- you really don't know how low he went. Imagine if he dropped into the 100s-- that would really be considered lower than he has been the last few weeks. I don't blame you for shooting early, but you lose a lot of data when you shoot early. It would have been interesting to see if the cycle would have come back down towards the end-- a lot of rebound cycles do come down at the end. Sometimes it takes hours, sometimes multiple cycles to clear bounces.

I know you HATE the higher numbers, but higher numbers do NOT create ketones or make a cat go into DKA. Cats can develop ketones and go DKA in much lower numbers. The good thing about shooting early is, you got additional insulin in him-- which is important in fighting ketones.

I would not worry about a nadir-- on a cycle like yours today--it is flat-- there is no definite nadir.

I hope his appetite comes back soon.

Breathe! (tell her St. Sue!)

Lu,

So sorry to see grayson up on the higher numbers. Copper and grayson must be in cohorts. I think Copper's is due the liver panicking a bit. He hasn't seen low numbers in too long. Maybe grayson is doing the same. What cycle are you on?

Hang in there! I know all too well how frustrating it is to see them in the higher numbers. Will keep praying that his numbers will settle down, down.

I jumped the gun on his pre-shot tonight... didn't want his numbers to climb any further... which is what they typically do. Guess I'm still a little skittish from the moderate ketone scare a week ago.... so I shot early.

He's dropped some, but still not into the 200s. I'd say he probably feels like a pincushion (I've been more than a little OCD today), but right now he's been drunk on the floor - belly up w/ 4 feet in the air - w/ a sock full of catnip (Christmas present). I'm not sure he's even noticed half the pricks!!! Will update his SS momentarily, but here's the summary since PMPS:

PMPS 444 shot 2.0 Kinda nursed his FF throughout this cycle - it's finally about all gone.
+2 424
+3 401
TRACE ketones
SubQs 100 mL
+4 357
+4.75 391 hmmmm????
+5.25 342
+6 346
TRACE ketones
+7 327 (is it really a nadir when it's this little of a drop?

Kim reminded me that I REALLY don't need to fill ALL the boxes on my spreadsheet - but I've come pretty close anyways.
