Good evening all...

I finally got around to getting Grayson's avatar up, however I still haven't worked on his new & improved spreadsheet. So in the meantime, I thought I'd share some of his story. Warning: there's no such thing as a short response - sorry!!!

Grayson's birth mom lived next door to me, and when her beans moved away, they left her... barefoot & pregnant outside, in March... one of the coldest months in NC. If I recall correctly, I think it was an extended period of highest temp 28 degrees. Brrrrrr!!!!! So his mom Tedi (Teadora) moved inside my house, looking like she'd pop any time. Two long weeks went by and my dogs and I were sleeping downstairs where she'd been contained (so as not to interact w/ other kitties until tested). In the early morning hours of Palm Sunday, Tedi began to birth five beautiful babies. Firstborn was Palmer (in honor of Palm Sunday, of course!) Never mind that she's a girl - I also have a boy named Peaches, but he doesn't have any issues w/ that! Franki (Francesca) is a B/W tux and looks quite a bit like her mom, except she has a larger spot on her nose. Alexandra, now known as Samantha, was a longhaired black kitty who resembled one of the neighborhood boys (imagine that!). She was adopted by a friend and her husband and became the center of their universe. Grayson and Ashley were the gray kids that were named some time later. In the meantime, they were known as "Big Gray" and "Little Gray". Ironically, Big Gray/Ashley is a very fluffy long-haired 9.5 pound girl. Little Gray/Grayson became the big boy of the house at 21.6 pounds. So everyone stayed except Samantha.

Grayson and his littermates (as well as the other kitties in the house) were immediately adored by my dogs Dom and his big sister Kirby (GA). It wasn't unusual to come home and find several of the kittens wet from head to tail, as Dom had been grooming them while I was at work. As Gray grew older, he began to reciprocate... either that or he has an ear fettish... but only with Dom's crazy fuzzy ears! His other "drooler" is Jack, a beagle/Jack Russell rescue.

Gray used to be somewhat shy with people - including me - hiding under the chair when I approached, but he's recently decided to run TO me every time I come home. He also thinks I need help typing, so from time to time you might see that he's walked on the computer. No more shyness... right now he's stretched out next to the computer...probably dreaming that I'll open another can of that yummy food!!! His coat looks tremendously better after only one month, and he's holding about 14 pounds - which is about where he should've been before.

So each time I try to pierce my little turnip, he's busy licking my hand, telling me how much better he feels already, and allowing me to poke him despite not really liking it. And as long as I give him his yummy food, he doesn't even seem to mind that "other poke". He's SUCH a good little trooper!!! And we're both so grateful for all the support from our new friends on the board.

What a wonderful beginning for Grayson and his family! And what a wonderful life he is leading, with you there to care for him! Go, Grayson!

I love to hear the kitties' stories. Wow, you are like the foster family that adopts all the brothers and sisters. A real Brady bunch! (I know, dating myself....). Thanks for sharing their wonderful story.

Isn't that on re-runs? You didn't mean to say you saw the originals, did you ;-) .

Love the story (and the role reversal of names!)

Reruns? Are you kidding? It was what we looked forward to every Friday at 7 pm! And that was in the days of about 25 episodes/season. None of this 6 episodes and then reruns in prime time. YIKES!!!. After the Brady Bunch came the Partridge Family... and did you see the Cowsills (the basis for the Partridge Family) on the news recently? MAN!!! Are they OLD!!! :) How can that possibly be???
