hi everyone, Tigger just went through a phase of not eating and we have come to the conclusion that he had pancreatitis. We are giving sub q's at home and he is back on insulin again. He was off for a few days while he wasnt eating. He is starting to eat again but not that great. I was wondering if Grandma lucys or Ziwi peak would be ok as far as carbs go for him to try., Anyone have any ideas?

thanks for your help!
Annemarie

We use Ziwipeak. Based on the analysis listed on the packages the smaller (170g tins) are lower in carbs than the the larger packets. We love this food because the ingredients are human grade and there are no fillers or plant matters.

Never heard of Grandma Lucys - are you in NZ?

Here's a list of foods for daibetic cats with or prone to pancreatitis: http://www.felinediabetes.com/phorum5/read.php?8,1259368 The list is kind of old so be sure to check http://binkyspage.tripod.com/canfood.html]Binky's charts and this newer list for other low fat/medium cab foods.

Ziwi Peak canned is pricey but can be fed. I don't know the exact carb content but it's under 10%. No idea what the fat content is.

Grandma Lucy's is a freeze dried grain free food: http://grandmalucys.com/artisan_chicken_fish.html This one is supposed to be mixed with water before serving. But it does contains potatos which may raise blood glucose levels in some cats. I didn't see a canned food listed for this on the web site.
