I wanted to thank all of the posters on this board for all of the great information here. Seven years a go in 2003 my ten year old cat Boog was diagnosed with diabetes. With the help of my vet and her staff, and all of the information on this board, I successfully treated Boog's diabetes for the last seven years. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with anemia and more severe medical problems on January 15. On the following Thursday her condition had deteriorated to the point where I had to make the terrible decision to put her to sleep. It was heartbreaking and I miss her more than I can say. She was a wonderfull friend for 17 years.

Once again thank you to all of the posters on this board for all of your help and advice over the last seven years. I was blessed to keep my good friend Boog for seven extra years because of your help.

I was able to donate Boog's food and syringes to a local cat rescue (Crash's Landing). I still have a vial of ProZinc insulin that I had used less than 10 units from before Boog passed away. If anyone here could use it I would be more than happy to send it to you for free. It's the least that I can do to help another cat owner faced with this task.

I'm so sorry you've had to say goodbye to your dear friend.

P.S. You might want to open a thread in Supply Closet to find a home for your insulin.

Fly free Boog and land softly. You now have that healthy free spirit instead of a sore sick body to weigh you down.
I'm so sorry for your loss Sounds like Boog had the bestest mamabean.

Thank you to everyone for your comments. It is very nice to know that others share a similar bond with their pet that I did with Boog.

I have posted in the supply room about the insulin.

(Boog was actually a girl-cat, and I was her "dad".)

I'm so very sorry for the loss of Boog, with such an interesting name.
Sending prayers and healing vines to you and your family.

((hugs))

Seven years is a long time to be so devoted to the treatment of this disease and you did so well to keep Boog healthy during those years. I'm so sorry that she developed other problems and had to leave you but she is now flying free of pain - and with all the other extra sweet kitties who were waiting to welcome her.

My heart goes out to you - may the wonderful memories and love you shared comfort you now in your grief.

Sending many comforting prayers your way.

Emmy & Dude (& Mittsi too)

I'm so sorry for your loss. You did what you had to do - the hardest thing to do - but because you loved him so much.
Fly FREEEEEEE Boog!

Thank you to everyone who posted on this thread. I want you to know that I read your posts and take comfort in your sympathy.

(((((Bart)))))

I am so sorry for your loss!

17 years, and 7 years as a diabetic, are a testament to what a wonderful caregiver you were for Boog. And when there was nothing more that could be done, you gave her the greatest, and hardest, gift of all by setting her free. She couldn't have had a better Dad.

Boog will always live on in your heart!

Sending hugs and prayers...
