Goodbye sweet gem. I loved you so

Good morning everyone.
Gem's AMPS was about what I'd expect, +3 a little higher than I'd think but it's ok.

For those that know Gem's story, she has Cushing's and her main problem is due to fragile skin she suffers skin tears very easily. I've been managing the care at home pretty well, but she got another bad one, and she is licking and scratching it. I cover it but then the bandage sticks when I go to change it. I am freaking out a bit as we are supposed to go away for the long weekend and will be away from the doctors that know her.

I'm waiting for a call back from the vet, trying to stay calm here. I think I'm in over my head with this one. I'm worried if I just go the ER I won't see the right person. I called the hospital and the dr I want to see is booked. Right now I have it covered so she can't do more damage, but I'm feeling very nervous.

Hi guys .. oh man .. I'm sorry to hear what you are going through .. I don't have any experience with cushings myself so I have no advice to give .. but I will definitely keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers!

Big VERY CAREFUL hug for extra sweet GemBaby. I can't imagine having to go thru this - it's hard when one of mine get a single sore.

I am so sorry for your loss, Karen. I know how much you and your family will miss Gem. In the short time that I have had the pleasure of knowing you on FDMB, I have been struck by your dedication to Gem. Every decision along the way was guided by care and concern for her. You were a good Mom to her, and I am sure that she passed away knowing that she was loved. I was one of many who came to care about her here on the board.

My heart sank when I saw your post (((((Karen)))))) Gem knows you loved her so much and you did all you could for her. I'm so sorry for the pain you are feeling, we are all feeling the pain of your loss.

Thank you all so much. My heart is heavy & broken, yet also filled with all the love you've shown me and my sweet baby girl.

I am going to take tonight to be with my other baby Kooker, who I'm sure will be lonely without his partner in crime!

If it's OK with you guys, I'd like to post tomorrow with the story of Gem's final journey in the hopes that it will bring me some solace. Know that I have read all your messages with tears running down my face and gratitude in my heart.

I send all my prayers to those whose kitties are struggling, and hold all your babies close.

My heart is breaking for you. Cushings is such a complicated disease and you and Gem fought such a good fight.

Gem was meant to be yours and only yours. She is with you in spirit always. She will send you signs that she is okay.

Karen, I am so sorry about Gem. Hard to type through tears, because I understand how difficult your decision was, but it always boils down to not making our pets suffer any more for our own sakes. You made the right decision, no matter how tearful you are right now. Think about how Gem's life was enriched by having you care of her, and how much worse her life could have been. Concentrate on the positives and the good memories, because Gem went to heaven knowing how she was so loved and well-cared for.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I have no other words except to say that this is just the hardest thing in the world as I thought yesterday was going to be the same day for my civie but somehow God had other plans.
