Yuki was on
Protexin Pro-Soluble Dogs/Cats :
Containing probiotic enterococcus faecium and dextrose.
My vet said to stop using it due to the dextrose in the product.

Can anyone recommend a safe and good alternative probiotic?
Thanks!

My vet recommended Fortiflora when Lucy was having some diarrhea after antibiotics. It seemed to work real good and only took about a week. A little pricey at $1 a day. Several members here recommended a few others too in another thread not long ago. Might try a search to find the thread.

Thanks! I'll search and see. Recently I read about kefir. I am considering trying that. My cats had a recent bout of diarrhoea and read that s. Boulardii is supposed to help. Ill be trying that.

If you are wanting this for diarrhea then s.boulardi may help. Also slippery elm bark and/or mashed plain pumpkin. I also found a little cooked egg white helped & making the diet a bit more bland for a while , as in plain poached chicken .

Thanks. I read that slippery elm bark powder is bitter. That may be difficult to use for my kitties.
