My cat Kallie has had diabetes for just over three years now. She is now Novolin N and has had good luck with that insulin. She was on 2 units in the morning and 2 at night. She only had one time where her numbers increased to around 200 and she had a bladder infection. Otherwise her numbers are between 70 and 120, or at least they were. For about the last month and a half her numbers have been high, they have been in the 300s. Her highest was 350. I took her to the vet and she did have a bladder infection but the vet said that was caused by the high blood sugar and not causing the numbers to be high. We've been to the vet twice and now her insulin is 4 and 4. The vet she normally sees left the clinic, she goes to the same place so they have her records, however the new vet isn't very helpful of figuring out what could have happened. The food is the same, the cats in the home are the same so no new stress. I"m willing to go to a different insulin but the vet hasn't suggested it. Is there anything I should tell the vet to look for? She has had a CBC last visit and that was good. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

When was the last time she had a dental? Pain or infection can raise BG levels.

You also may be experiencing a bounce. This happens when too much insulin is given. The body produces extra glucose to prevent becoming hypoglycemic. 4 units is high dose for any insulin.

I suggest trying a longer acting insulin and start over with a low dose, such as 1 unit. Keep at the same dose for at least a week before increasing it. If an increase is needed, only raise it by 1/2 unit. Stay at the new dose for another week before raising it again. You are trying to find the best dose that works for your cat.
