So good news....I was finally able to test Little Man!!!! Decided to try for the +4 since he is on Lantus.

Not so good news....his glucose read 424! I don't think the 1u is enough? Or is it just still too soon???

*Just realized that I didn't have meter coded to strips and not sure if this would make a difference? It was set to 21...strip bottle said 25. I fixed it so not sure if that would affect the number.*

Afternoon, I can tag a few members for you to help answer your question
I noticed in your signature and on your spreadsheet it says you are using the Relion
premier Classic meter, you just said you had the meter coded wrong
Are you using a pet meter Alpha Trak ?
If you are you need to change that in your signature and in your SS

No the strips I have for relion say the code is 25...but the relion meter was coded to 21.

The test strips say no coding I have never heard of this before, I use the Relion Prime which you don't have to code either

yes that is the correct meter...that means I read the package wrong the test strips I have don't say no coding on them nor does the paper inside...either way I guess it doesn't matter means the meter read correctly the first time.

Just checked it again at +6 its up more to 442. Now he has had a couple small pieces of freeze dried chicken as treat for testing...but that is pure protein

Yes I realized my mistake....I couldn't get but a small bottle of strips (25 strips). Because of where it was on the bottle (my husband has a glucose meter that needs coding...number of strips on little mans bottle is in same place as coding of husbands strips.) I thought it was the code. Little mans test kit and my husbands are in two different places just use two different machines in this house and got confused. And in meter I mistook the setup of the coding when in reality it was the year...21 is 2021.

So having said that little mans readings are as accurate as they can be and are pretty high

I'm so tired....its been long nights and days I'm very sleep deprived. Btw only reason for smaller bottle of test strips was availability at my walmart when I purchased.

No problem at lest you figured it out
Let's see if any of the members I tagged get back about the dose
I do know that it takes about a week for the lantus depot to fill
Just want to be sure you are keeping the pens in the fridge

I know I thought about the depot filling as well... although we have been on it over a week technically on the 27th was when I had the weird gave him 2 units in am and then skipped pm so only 3 days ago today and might have messed with the depot.

I am keeping pens in fridge and not in door but on shelf

If I remember you are having trouble with testing
Really have to try and get the AMPS and PMPS tests in and some after each cycle so we can see how the lantus is working for him
One other thing on your SS you can write what you fed in the remarks section
Don't put the time , example put @+4 or +5 if you ever need help because he might drop too low the members will ask you when did you feed him, we are all in different time zones
He looks so adorable in the laundry basket, he's a cutie :cat:

I plan on doing that...actually when I decided to try to test today I specifically picked to test at +4 because I had read lantus is at its "peak" (cause it doesn't really peak) at about 4 hours after shot. Now that I have had two tests today I will be doing the PMPS today and then depending on what others say here will determine when after that I test.

The problem with any guidance regarding dose is that we have very little test data to base a recommendation on. I would have no idea if the numbers from today reflect a bounce or if Little Man is generally running in high numbers. It's helpful to get your AM and PM pre-shot numbers and at least one additional test during both the AM and PM cycles.

I agree with that and plan on doing that now that I seem to finally have testing figured out. Hoping it continues to be easier for us both since today was first day I had a successful test...two actually so yay!!!

I will say overall he has been drinking less but has been quite hungry last couple days.
