Cutters last two visits to the vet 7/8/13 & 7/16/13 have shown no signs of being a sugar cat. BG104 on there glucose meter[accucheck meter] & 79 on our relion meter. Todays readings were 117 on theres & 100 on ours.Vet suggested that we check him weekly for now and less so if good #'s continue. When cutter was 1st diag. his blood sugar was 500 then 400 vets testing, then in the low 300's with our testing this happening all over the last month.I would suggest bringing your own meter to vets and testing right along side with them. Our vet was fine with this. Cutter was never given any insulin and vets never detected any ketones. The one thing that We did was convert from dry to wet food [not easy as you all know] also have been giving cutter chia gel [prev post] and although i do not think this had any significant finding for his blood sugar levels I do think that it helps with hydration and his dandruff has seemed to disappear. Cutter is brushed almost every day but always had dandruf, vet found no signs of fleas our flea dander. Also from reading different articles on chia Iv'e read that it regulates the digestive system which helps prevents sugar spikes. Again just what Iv'e read but I do think that it would be worth a look just to see for your selfs. Just google chia seeds and you will find more info than you want to know about.
Once again we want to thank all the people on this sight, they have been nothing but caring and insightful w/ all the good info they provide. Keep up the great work. I will continue to check in from time to time and will always recommend this sight.
Thanks, Cutter, Charl & Carlie
