Good news - last week I got "promoted". I've moved one step up the ranger ladder. Slight increase in pay and benefits, a slightly bigger house. Same hours (different all the time). More duties and responsibilities (no big deal). So that's the good news. YAY me!
Bad news - the new house I mentioned. It's only about 1 mile from my current digs. Just as close to the ocean, although on a busier part of the beach. Still a 2 or 3 minute walk from my door to the water. BUT.... possible limited access to the internet. Right now, my net access is totally dependent upon my cell phone. Either use the phone itself, or tether it to my PC and access thru my phone provider. This new house has really crappy cell reception. Poor signal, and there one minute, gone the next. Can't switch providers because I still have a year on my contract. Right now, I am hoping to get a 2nd phone line with high speed service, or cable service with internet. Do not know if either is actually available to me though. My current house, I have DirecTV with a good signal (though not good enough for Satellite Internet). New house, surrounded by trees and questionable satellite reception, definitely no local channel service. If I can get cable w/ internet, I'm all set. If not, it has to be a phone line added. Can't use the "company" phone line for anything but local calls. This is the fun of living where I live! Can't complain, the rent is really cheap! And even if I can get a phone line, not certain that a DSL set up is available. That's the fun of living at the end of the highway where the road ends and the water begins. We're in the boonies here!
So, by Friday or Saturday, I will be cut off from the information superhighway, unless I leave the house so I can use my phone. That means my posts are likely to be really short and have a lot of words misspelled.
It could be at least a week, possibly two, before I am back on the grid, assuming I can get the services I want. Probably have to buy a new PC too, but that's fine, this one is ancient (still running windows XP here).
Just wanted to let y'all know...
