Hello! So after a few rocky weeks, Snowflake lost about a pound and a half and while she thankfully now has her appetite back, she isn't putting on weight as quickly as I'd like her to. I'm currently feeding fancy feast classics. Are there any good foods for helping cats put on weight that you guys know of? I was thinking of maybe giving her kitten food but thought I'd ask for suggestions first.

Thanks!

I'm glad to hear Snowflake is doing better. I kept looking for your posts, and peeking at your ss.

I would just feed more food. If needed, you can ask your vet for an appetite stimulant. I am currently using cyproheptadine for J.D. on an as needed basis. It works pretty good, and doesn't get him as agitated as mirtazapine does.

Check through the lists and look for foods w/ higher calories /oz. Most FF is around 30 to 32 kcal/oz, Wellness, EVO 95% and Blue Wilderness 35 to 40 kcal/oz. Raw foods tend to be higher in calories too.

I know when I was trying to get Tess to gain weight it was hard to get her to eat more, but upping the calories in what she got helped.

Hello Kathryn,
I was so glad to see your post and get news of Snowflake!

Also, interested in as calorie dense food on a per ounce basis as one can find. I am helping an elderly neighbor (she's over 90) with her skinny FD kitty, but leaving on vacation to a place where internet connections are very iffy! Can't do much research but remember someone posted recently a specific calorie dense food good for FD cats. Anyone remember what it was? Thank you in advance.

Ann, missed your answer - thank you!!!

Best wishes to Everyone, Sophie

Maxcal from the vet is 330 calories and 3%-6% carbs, is that what you were thinking of Sophie?
