I don't think the vet I'm going to currently is very well educated in this field (FD). Does anyone have a recommendation for a good vet in the LA area? Preferably as close to Los Feliz, Hollywood, or Glendale as possible. Thanks-

Hi there. I was alerted that you posted. I live in the South Bay area of LA so unfortunately I am too far south of you to recommend a vet in your area. I can tell you that this site was extremely helpful to me when my cat was diagnosed with FD several years ago.

Best of luck!

Hi Amy! When dB was still around, I took him to Suman Prabhakar in Van Nuys. It's kind of a trek, but he and I learned FD together, and I showed him what I learned here as far as testing, etc. At the time I lived in the NH/Burbank area, but since have moved to Mt. Washington, so it's just too far for me. That said, now I take both my cats (epileptic, fiv+) to Studio City Animal Hospital (still far but a little closer!). There are several vets there, and they seem receptive to my questions about treatments, although I have never asked them about FD or home-testing (since I'm not dealing with a diabetic on a daily basis anymore). I have a friend who took his cats to the cats-only vet in Glendale, you might want to check them out. Of course Animal Specialty Group is amazing, but only by referral and only for specialists, and very expensive. Good luck! Nothing better than a good vet you can trust.

Purrs,
Karen & dB in spirit
