We had a great morning yesterday! Great numbers & happy kitty. Evening began climbing and I tested in the night. I made sure I didn't give a fur shot, not sure what's up with him.Additionally, I cannot access SS because of tech issues now. Which must be addressed also. :(( Sue: my cell won't support the app says the playstore. Guess I have to get the new tablet.

Discouraging, mbut remember it's only one cycle. Might be a hairball, a little constipation. I'd see if it looks like a pattern and happens again today. If so, you could up to 1.5.

Tucker's pattern so far has been to have a delayed reaction. It took 7 cycles on 1.25 before you saw a green.

Hi Sue,
I can't watch him well enough to go up anyway, not until Friday. I can test during nadir, only at +5 or +6 today. Then when I get home from work.
Trying to get our SS up on this new tablet too.
Thank you for having a look.

You do what you can, after all. That gives you a few days to see if it is a pattern, and then you can increase on Friday if it is. :)

Thank you Rachel for your kind words. I just took his PMPS, it's 516. His legs are wobbly and I just feel terrible about it.
I can't get the dang Google Sheets to even take my test #'s. It's been a long long day.

Be sure to test for ketones, Brenda. I don't know why he is so high. He was doing really well. No chance he got into any high carb.

You could up the dose if you can catch some numbers overnight.

I'll send you a message via private conversation about your spreadsheet.

Yes, I have been checking that too. He's still negative. I wracked my brain to see if he could have gotten into anything..and no. I haven't changed his FF flavor, but I did give tiny pieces of skinless chicken breast as a treat. It wasn't baked, and I gave it Sat nite and Sunday. :nailbiting: Does it make that huge a diff?

Well, his +6 was 232 at least. I gave a few drops less than 1.25 last night. Just to see. I don't really understand how bouncing works exactly, but I didn't think it could hurt to try something.
Gosh was I glad it came down a little. He definitely feels better.
Try to test +7 shortly. But I really need to go lie down after that, busy day ahead.

I'm terrible at explaining this but bouncing is a sudden drop in glucose numbers. This releases extra glucose to try to account for it, which causes a higher number. Does that make sense? That being said, I'm not sure that's what is happening. I suppose it's possible, but usually we see a pretty large drop that causes bouncing. He could have gone much lower during the cycle and then bounced up to 516 but there really isn't a way to know that.

The chicken shouldn't cause any issues. As long as it's skinless, it should be fine.

That +7 was much nicer.

You're doing truly great on testing! Just remember to get some rest. Getting all these numbers is awesome, but sometimes a night of uninterrupted rest can help you feel better! It'll be interesting to see what his AMPS is. :)

Well, that was a nice drop.

Sometimes we can find nothing that explains a number. I think of it as the "Squirrel!" phenomenon. Did you see the movie "Up"? There was a dog who would just see a squirrel and go bonkers. We always need to remember they are a cat and we don't really understand them. It might be something that stresses them out, or a hairball or?

He did seem to be getting into a pattern of higher numbers. So either he will come down or we can add a little insulin.

I was just looking again at his SS and Sunday when I first gave him the chicken is when his first greens showed up..??? I don't believe it was the chicken. If think we're teetering between dosages??
Your turn.

Thanks Rachel. You know, there's a lot to be said about a full night of rest..I just don't remember what it is!o_O I become obsessed with chasing those numbers and then beat myself up if I doze through the alarm. I know better, so thanks for the reality check. We just live & breathe this so much, I guess our perspective shrinks up.
Stubborn little fart. These #'s are soooo like his personality.

Ha-ha. Thanks for that..the movie UP and the dog! OK. I do keep that philosophy in mind, yet I don't use it do I?
He DID eat 2 June bugs. What's the carbs in that? LOL
And it is possible he isn't getting enough exercise because I don't have time to play right now, and I don't allow him near 'hazardous' former play areas. Neuropathy.

Had to laugh about Tucker eating 2 June bugs! (I've wondered about carbs, too, when Bat eats a big moth.) But speaking of eating: Which FF formula is Tucker on - and how much food does he get per day, total? What's his weight now --- and what is target weight for him, based on his breed? (If you'd posted feeding info on another thread, I can't find it...)

I only ask about the Fancy Feast formula because the Classic versions tend to be lower carb than the others. Although every cat is different, I've found that just a 2-3 more carbs can make a pretty significant difference in Bat's BG numbers ... Thinking good thoughts for you & Tucker! - Robin

Oops, just NOW found feeding info on earlier thread you had going ... But would like to know which FF formulas you're using. (And is Tucker still underweight?)

Hi Robin. He is gaining now. Filling out. Haven't had alot of extra time to gather nutrition data really. He gets 2-3 cans of 3.3 oz Fancy Feast, Shrimp & Tuna Feast, flaked. I just found out you don't have to feed one flavor, but I have been, since MY ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD WILL EAT IT.;)
I parcel out his daily food allotment in several mini meals, and as poking rewards.
When I get more organized I will introduce more foods and add some chicken breast or thigh.
One of my problems is they all eat together, and play musical plates. If I'm introducing another flavor (that is possibly higher carb) Tucker will inevitably eat some.
So there's that :banghead:

I hear that! Mine all "share" food too. They each have to try a bit from each bowl (you know...to make sure they're all the same!). Mine are grazers too...I leave the food out and they graze on it on and off for a few hours until it's gone. I've realized that there is no point in feeding different foods now. They all get the same food in every bowl. :)

Since I've just switched everyone over, I am pretty grossed out by the leftover food on the plate. Yech. I try to feed just enough, EVERYONE'S on Minis! I have a sectioned Tupperware thingy that has EVERYONE'S daily amount in it. If they leave food, I scrape it back in! LOL. No grazing. Yes it is so much fun. I swear I am ready to go ghetto and use paper plates, because I am a freak about the dirty plates every day. #NotOCD

Yep, I am right there with you. I feed them just enough so they clean their plates. I have four to feed (three of them are my daughter, Alex's, cats). They begin surrounding me about 30 minutes before feeding and when I am in the kitchen preparing their food. I walk down the hallway with four plates. Taylor is fed in the hallway outside Alex's room, Merlin is fed in Alex's room and Kita and Slugger then follow me down another hallway to the laundry room where they are fed. I close the door to Merlin's room and the laundry room so they stay in their area and eat up all their food on their own plates. If they have any left overs, I shovel the leftovers back in the cat tupperware bowl.
