As part of my volunteer work with Anjellicle Cats Rescue in NYC, I give a cat-care seminar to all of our fosters and adopters (along with 2 other volunteer we offer these sessions at different locations on several different days of the week.) We have an info packet we give out that needs to be updated. There have been a lot of new food brands that have been introduced....I remember when Fred was first diagnosed in 2005, there were so few low-carb, no grain foods--there was Wellness and Evo and that was about it in the first few years.

Now there are tons of brands. I know I can look on Janet and Binky's chart, but to save me a little time could yall look at my list below and add any that I have not included?

Premium Brands
Wellness
Wellness Core
Nature's Variety Instinct
Merrick (Turducken, etc.)
BG (Before Grain)
Evo
Au Natural (or something? I just started buying it, comes in an organic one and a 6oz can)
Halo stews
Petco Soulstice (?)

Cheaper Brands:
Fancy Feast (Classic flavors ONLY) (Is this still the case?)
Any other cheap brands that use byproducts that are low-carb, no grain?

Raw Frozen Cat foods
Feline's Pride (mail order)
Nature's Variety Instinct for cats and dogs
any others for cats? I don't think Stella and Chewy's is for cats is it?

Treats: low carb, high protein, no grain
Halo Liv-a-littles
any others?

thank you very much for weighing in!

Perhaps you are thinking of By Nature?

Blue Buffalo Wilderness is grain-free but I don't know how what the carb content is.

Petco Soulstice (?)

Soulistic It's made by the same company that makes Weruva and Best Friends Food (BFF).

ZiwiPeak
Go Natural

Raw Frozen Cat foods

any others for cats? I don't think Stella and Chewy's is for cats is it?

Stella and Chewy's does have a freeze dried raw food for cats: http://www.stellaandchewys.com/cat-products.php It can be rehdydrated with water for a few minutes before feeding, though trying to convince a hungry demanding cat to wait may be difficult  The dog formulas can also be fed. They contain taurine.

Other raw brands:
Primal Pet, both the freeze dried (can be rehydrated) and the raw frozen formula (not the frozen grind).
The Honest Kitchen's Grace and Prowl formulas. Both are dehdyrated raw foods and are grain-free. Neither are low in carbs for a diabetic.
Rad Cat Raw

Treats: low carb, high protein, no grain
Halo Liv-a-littles
any others?

There's a whole list of low carb grain-free treats here: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9172

flaked with tuna and egg in sauce is 5% carb

of the Merrick- cowboy cookout is 5% carb and is better than turducken which is 9%

Personally, I wouldn't recommend the dog version for cats - as it contains a lot of vegetables that cat's don't need.

the cat version is great and my girls love it - dry of course!

Re: GOOD canned foods: Please update my low-carb, no grain

Nature's Variety has a raw rabbit formula.

Listing my bookmarked web pages. Some are not diabetic-friendly, others have ingredients that may or may not be ok for a diabetic. All should be grain-free.

Raw Advantage is another brand but some of the cat formulas are not suitable for a diabetic. The "dinners" and the "formulas" are not diabetic-friendly (grains). The "recipies" and "chunk recipies" are and are 100% complete..

Feline Natural freeze dried raw. It's awfully expensive though

Wild Kitty Cat Food. Not diabetic-friendly.

Grandma Lucy's Freeze Dried cat food

Addiction Wild Brushtail & Berries Entrée - dehydrated raw food

ZiwkiPeak Air dried cat food - raw food

Sojo's Turkey Complete cat food- freeze dried raw food.

Only Natural Pet EasyRaw Dehydrated Cat Food

Only Natural Pet Grain-Free MaxMeat Air Dried Cat Food

Wysong Archetype raw food

Addiction grain-free canned foods

I and love and you Pate Canned Cat Food - This must be a OnlyNaturalPet.com brand. It looks decent for diabetics.

Evanger's. The game meat line is not a complete diet. The other canned food lines are.

Fromm Four Star canned food

Bravo Balance raw pet food

Avoderm canned food

Nature's Logic canned and raw food

Lotus canned food

Felidae Pure Elements grain-free canned food

Taste of the Wild canned food in gravy

Dave's canned food

Re: GOOD canned foods: Please update my low-carb, no grain

Avocado

No matter how good you think the guacamole is, you shouldn't give it to your dog. Avocados contain a substance called persin. It's harmless for humans who aren't allergic. But large amounts might be toxic to dogs. If you happen to be growing avocados at home, keep your dog away from the plants. Persin is in the leaves, seed, and bark, as well as in the fruit.
This also applies to cats.

I haven't figured out why Avoderm is even allowed to be a pet food. It has avocado oil .

Re: GOOD canned foods: Please update my low-carb, no grain

It should be here too.

5 % - Friskies flaked with tuna and egg

5% - Merrick Cowboy cookout
3% - Merrick Surf n Turf
4% -Merrick Southern delight - this one has crawfish in it. My cat likes it occasionally. usually have to switch back

5% - Wellness turkey and salmon

0% - Natura Evo chicken and turkey
4% Natura Evo 95% duck
