So, the good news is no ketones and amps is 228 after a +6 last night of 165.

Bad news is no poop. He has been syringing watered down food with Miralax included since last night. Today he is thinking a baby suppository. Costello is still not eating on his own.

Not impressed with priority mail. Still no package and he has one strip left. He thinks he will go to Walmart and get the ReliOn. He will have some cash to pay himself back next week.

So. according to the scale, he is doing .5 this am. If he gets strips, hopefully he will get a +6 and then the pmps.

and he won't get his mail til this afternoon huh? that sucks! damn postal service in this country gets worse by the day i swear!

the syringes didn't even show up? they were coming from just a few hours away from him too.

i would bet everything shows up today though, in case he wants to or can wait?

no chance someone else around there has gotten his mail is there?

Loving the numbers. Hating the postal service! I didnt realize he was that low on strips. Wally just can't catch a break this week can he?

I don't know on the other questuon. I have no experience on no appetite and no pooping. My two are very much hoovers and movers. We did have one years ago that we had to use an infant suppository on and it worked the first try.

Thankful for no ketones! I also have a package going out... But, it probably will be Monday. I will try fedex.

Hang in there Costello!

I had a Manx cat that had genetic problems and had megacolon. He got constipated frequently and I gave him baby suppositories regularly. They worked well and avoided having to go to vet and go under anesthesia for an enema as often.
My vet also told me to mix a teaspoon of canned pumpkin into his food daily to try to keep him regular. She also had me giving him Metamucil for fiber but told me to make sure he either drank enough water on his own or to syringe because the metamucil without sufficient water could make the constipation worse or cause blockage.
Tell him to be sure and get baby suppositories and not adult.
Sending healing reiki to Costello and hoping the packages with supplies arrive today.
Costello's numbers are really nice. I hope he will feel better today, poopy and start eating on his own.
Sending prayers and reiki.

Hi Ev1! I like his lower numbers today, too. Thanks, all, for your efforts and best wishes! He ate pretty well, this morning, but haven't seen a B.M. after the suppository this morning, yet. He did't eat this afternoon. I bought a can of pumpkin a few days ago, but changed my mind about using it, as I noticed it had 10 g carbs. I hope the mail was sent to 2445 donovan ave, and not 2405. 2445 is the one for USPS, and 2405 for UPS and Fed EX. They put me in a temp. apartment. I was going to order more strips, but when I found out they would send me some, I held off. I think I waited too long before that to get them in time, anyway. I just bought a Kroger meter and strips, today, but won't open them until I check my mail when I get home. I'm going to take off in just a bit. So long-

Today

228 amps
215 +6
HI pmps New meter. I had Wally test again and test himself. He tested HI and then LO so meter is probably defective.

We decided he would run back to store, get new meter and ask pharmacist how to use it. Then hurry back. Shot will be at least 45 minutes late, but with Costeollo's variable numbers, we didn't want to shoot blind.

Ate well today, morning and evening. Still no poop. Tried suppository and put little Miralax into food. If no poop by morning, looks like ER.

It rains and then it pours!!!

The suppository should work very quickly if it is going to work at all. Within minutes.
Good numbers, bad meter. Can we catch just ONE break?
Any mail today?

Carl

Let's see if can get this straight....
Late shot acts like a dose decrease
Early shots - ACT like a dose increase, so small reduction may be necessary.

Late shots - ACT like a dose decrease, so small increases may be necessary.

If Wally plans however, on shooting "on schedule" in the morning, then that will make tomorrow's AM shot "early" in relation to this one. So it would ACT like an increase in the morning.

Let's see what his number is. I would expect higher than we think, since the test is late, so rather than react to that number, we do need to try and guess what it was at +12. Find out if there's any recent food intake that we have to consider?

I see you're still on, Carl. So it took 2 hours to get a meter. But Wally decided to give him .5 before he left, which I think will turn out to be a good thing. So he shot 40 minutes late, blind. And then went to get the meter.

He will get the meter ready and get number, I hope. Yes, he ate after the shot and before this next number.

Hi Sue,

I was just reading on health this:
Thank you for your replies. Cartman was on Iams Kitten food (dry) before I got him. I discontinued everything but the Fancy Feast shredded chicken appetizer (shredded baked chicken in water) & added cooked rice and only fed him that for 24 hrs. It worked well, a little too well as he became constipated and didn't poop for the next two days So I ended up giving him a can of Fancy Feast Elegant Medley with Cat-Sip, an oil-based vitamin paste, and a tablespoon of Metamucil mixed in it, which needless to say, got things going. He's fine now and on Friskies pate canned food (finally found one he'll tolerate). Probably changing his diet and trying these different foods threw his system for a loop. Haven't had any problems since, but now I know what works if we have problems in the future

Kitty went from okay, to constipated, didn't poop for 2 days, and then to diarrhea. In both cases, too much treatment. I'm guessing the rice caused the blockage, and then too much metamucil maybe caused the opposite. I'm just wondering if some sort of metamucil/oil in smaller amounts would fix Costello's problem. From speaking with Wally, it sounds like he has a lot of knowledge about natural/herb-based medicines. Maybe there's a natural laxative that would be okay for a cat, especially a sugarcat?

Do you know if he got a replacement of the meter, or a different brand? Hope they didn't give him a hard time, and that they let him prove it was working before he left the store.

I'll be on a little longer hoping to see a number soon.
Carl

He got a different meter, a Contour, I think. He said the strips were $1 each.

I hate to suggest his buying anything else. He was saying Costello's ears were getting raggedy and of course, I told him he could buy something else to fix that - Neosporin. He is using Metamucil.

Since the suppository didn't do anything, I think he is thinking vet tomorrow. It sounds like this has happened to Costello before.

WHY IS NOTHING EASY? So, he got the Accuchek, not the Contour. And they didn't give him the drum of strips. Course, he opened the package and isn't sure they will let him return it. They are now closed.

He is going to Walmart for the ReliOn because it is open till midnight. He will try to get a +6 tonight and then the amps tomorrow.

There was a tiny bm. He'll try another suppository before he tries the vet tomorrow.

This could be a really bad movie script! Poor Wally. The guy is never going to get a decent night's sleep....

Him and Costello are going to be in my prayers tonight for sure.
